so is there a way to make avast portable
and
why do u have to sine up for avast free

if you mean register .... guess it is for statistic....see how many users they have

there is no portable avast
ClamWin have portable  http://portableapps.com/apps/security/clamwin_portable
Superantispyware have a portable   http://superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html?tag=SAS_HOMEPAGE

and there are some cleaning tools that can be run from USB sticks like Dr.web cure it and Norman malware cleaner
these tools dont have a update function so you need to download lates updated version from website when needed
