Title: Email clients that work with Avast Home???
Post by: vineyridge on July 27, 2005, 06:20:08 AM
I seem to recall that Avast home edition would only scan incoming and outgoing mail on Outlook Express, Eudora, and Pegasus.

Does it now work automatically with Thunderbird?  Can it be set up to work with Thunderbird?

Thanks!! My 85 year old aunt is not pleased with the ad sponsored Eudora, might have trouble learning Pegasus, and is used to Netscape mail.  If Avast will protect Thunderbird, I would like to switch her to that.  If not, she'll have to learn Pegasus.

It sure can be used with Thunderbird.
This has been explained in another thread.
Please use the search option on this board.

vineyridge,

I cannot know how old your recollections are and I do not know the specifics of your aunt's system (operating system etc) but I can say that I have been using Thunderbird, WinXP (SP2) along with Avast for the past 8 months (since Avast 4.5) without any problems whatsoever.

If you have any further questions on Tbird and Avast I'm sure there will be a few of us here to try to assist you.

Sure it works.
On Windows XP, you don't have to do anything.
On Windows 9x\Me you should run Mail Protection Wizard tool.
