Title: Why were these files quarantined???
Post by: emma99 on July 30, 2005, 02:24:02 PM
I have just started using Avast AV 4.6 Pro (after a bad experience with NAV2005).

After downloading email using Outlook Express 2 emails were flagged as suspect. On examining the virus chest/system files there are three files which have been quarantined:

1. kernel32.dll
2. winsock.dll
3. wsock32.dll

However, none of these files are flagged as having a virus.

Maybe I am missing something (I know I am not familiar with this s/ware), but why have these files been quarantined?

(Also, the Avast AV s/ware seems to be a little CPU hungry at times. I thought it was just Norton that was a resource hog).

Welcome to the Avast family.

Please read THIS (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=14410.msg121687#msg121687)

Suggestions:
- Use the search option on this board before asking. A lot of questions have been asked and answered before.
- Read Avast's help file and make yourself familiar with what Avast is offering the user. (settings etc)

How much cpu time Avast is using depends a lot on the settings ;)
