Title: Requesting refund
Post by: REDACTED on September 04, 2014, 02:44:14 PM
Hi, I just purchased Grimefighter, and when I try to run it, it constantly fails to connect to the Internet after it puts the PC through the sedation process.  I'm using it on my PC upstairs that connect via WiFi to a router downstairs, and usually I have no problems with my Internet connection. I've done a Google search, and lo and behold, apparently there are issues when users have a WiFi connection.  I don't mind a new product having a few problems shortly after release, and I expect this when software products are launched. However, this is a major issue that prevents people from actually using the program and renders it completely useless to them.

When advertising the product, you failed to make this issue clear.

Therefore I would now like a full refund for £14.99.

edit: ticket sent

Many thanks.

Hello nick_7575 and welcome, agreed this apparent limitation should be in bold block letters right up front.
The fact that SO Many People use WIFI, and are victim to this limitation makes me shake my head.

Please keep in mind the refund process takes 7-10 business days. :)

Hi also bought Grimefighter, deal with subscription renewal, downloaded said it needed to restart, told me it would put computer to sleep, which it did. Took 10 hours from me then some of my sons computer friends to get back into it. They said every time I tried to restart Grimefighter was shutting down graphics card so could not access screen to do anything. They took drive out and reset and turned off/disabled Grimefighter. Will not use again due to this experience, have sent request for refund under 30 day refund guarantee and details how to remove Grimefighter in case it tries to run again. Have recieved reply with Ticket ID: EEW-973-30757 it advised I would be e-mailed with an update -none so far- and gave a link to see how ticket is progressing, requests I log in then tells me my e-mail address -where they sent e-mail to-is wrong or my password  -that let me log in here- is wrong, is it a scam and will work after 30 days and avast will tell me to late to claim.
To any moderators that can help i would appreciate it.

Hello Fatbloke.
To remove GrimeFighter is fairly straight forward.

Go to Control Panel > Programs/Features > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose the "Change" option from within Avast setup choices, Remove the checkbox option for GrimeFighter in Tools row.
Reboot.

Please follow the simple directions in the above post if you want to uninstall GrimeFighter.
You don't need to Uninstall Avast, simply the GrimeFighter Component. :)

Clearly there are significant problems with Grime Fighter.  I purchased about 10 days ago and have been totally unsuccessful in getting it to install.  I have also been totally unsuccessful in getting a response from the Avast Technical Support group, despite sending two messages requesting assistance.  Given the posts above, I would like to receive, from Avast, either details on how to overcome my problem or instructions on how to request a refund. I note a link to Avast Support above regarding refunds - given the total lack of response I have had from Avast Support, I don't hold out much hope of any success there.  And might I suggest that Grime Fighter be withdrawn until these issues are overcome. This recent experience has destroyed several years of trust and satisfaction with Avast products.  Remember, it takes 10 good recommendations to counter 1 negative one.

I am having the same issue with it connecting to sedate the pc after restart, I submitted a ticket for this on 9-3-14, the day of purchase and am still waiting for a response to that. A few days ago I requested a refund via support online, still nothing.  I called into tech support this morning and they said my entire system is too messed up, they will advance me to a higher tier of support and they would call me back to tell me how much it would cost me to fix my computer.

At this point all I want is my money back.  I was told I would have to call customer service for that.

Hello and welcome.
Did you submit a Ticket SPECIFICALLY for a Refund or was it a support ticket?

You can post your Ticket Number here as other users have done, in hopes of Avast Team Member helping from this end.  :)
Also don't pay anything to online support techs.
If you are using WIFI there are known issues with inconsistent connection support.

Hello helenc3831 and welcome.

I have contacted someone who may be able to assist you, it could take a bit of time.

Also, you might want to remove your email address (edit out) as this could attrack a lot of SPAM. :)

like nick and others I was a very happy avast customer nexwayorder number 18307136 10/30/13 most recent renewal
because of those many good vibrations from avast antivirus I purchased grimefighter through avast on 07/02/2014 order id 15008960742 pw JPQ8TN product SKU GMF 00-001-AR product name avast! grimefighter
and I paid $29.99
like nick and many others I want a refund and have been trying to get one since july 17 only to be blocked by the avast systems at every turn
until I read this forum and saw that some of the avast technical people here are actually helping customers get refunds for grimefighter I was resigned to going to the courts and becoming part of yet another ugly class action lawsuit
I downloaded grimefighter expecting the best because of past experience with avast I have windows 7 home edition with internet from verizon grimefighter sedated my computer and in the process cut off my internet connection to verizon and then demanded an internet connection
so far I have spent 30 hours of my time trying to deal with this disaster including trying to get a refund
avast is a fine company
hopefully someone will step up and do something to make certain that nothing like the grimefighter problem ever happens again
I will await my refund I have already filled out many support tickets and nothing has ever happened
in response
thank you adam riley and friends
let me know if you need any additional information from me
I have taken notes on how to remove grimefighter from my computer
and will follow those directions

I just posted a ticket for a refund on the avast! GrimeFighter. Like many, many people, my copy does not work and I am tired of dealing with it. And I see that it has taken quite a bit of time for many of you guys to get a refund, so I 'm going to go ahead and post my support ticket number here and hopefully expedite the process.

Unfortunately, if you have submitted more then one 'support ticket' for the same issue, it's my understanding/experience the last one received will be the ticket dealt with.
So it will take longer with multiple support tickets.

I gave up trying to get my refund with support tickets before aug 1 and I did not take down any support ticket numbers
do I really need to fill out another support ticket and post the date and number?

there may be a silver lining to these grimefighter problems
I am actually taking 3 years off to learn about computer hardware and software
if avast believes that grimefighter will work with some modifications
then avast might need some people willing to be test subjects

I have windows 7 home premium edition and I have wireless internet through verizon
I have an hp pavilion dm 1

and I also have an iphone 4

people who participate in such product testing usually get paid something
but not exorbitant amounts

avast may have found the subjects avast needs to perfect grimefighter right here
among its own customers

if you check with the outside companies that do product and market testing
you will find that working with your own test subjects who already are avast customers
is a lot cheaper and a lot more efficient
in addition to bringing an awful lot of goodwill and great publicity to avast
and to grimefighter

of course if I were still working as an attorney trying cases
I would not be able to do this

but for the next 3 years I am on vacation swimming and going to the gym every day
and teaching myself about computer hardware and software

after all someone has to bring the legal business out of the 19th century
into the 21st

if I fit the parameters of one of the areas in which grimefighter needs to be perfected
you can let me know by post right here

I also have a technical problem which arose shortly before I purchased
grimefighter

shortly after I turned on my system on a suggestion appeared on my screen from avast
suggesting that I do something with some google function to avoid potential virus exposures

since the suggestion came from avast I went ahead and said ok

since that time when I bring up internet explorer I get the bing screen instead of google

my attempts to bring back google as my home page are rebuffed with some weird error message
basically telling me that I cannot do that

how do I get rid of bing and bring back my google home page?
I have google email and am used to and happy with google

ploughing through bing to get to google many times every single day
is a real pain

thank you for your attention

I ordered GrimeFighter on Nov. 5 (order no. 15616677842).  When it did not install, I called tech support the next day, but to no avail, and asked for a refund.  The tech told me to send in a ticket.  Ticket ID is BSW-205-80069.  I've been waiting more than two weeks.  No refund and not even a courtesy email from Avast.  What now?

You are probably getting close to the response time,
I've read "it can take up to 15 BUISNESS Days".
Nov.6 only makes it 12 days of which 8 were business days  8)

Welcome aboard the Grime Fighter deceiving boat !!!

I think you've made your point, you're not happy.
If I'm to take your post in your Topic On Nov. 14 you stated you made a request for a refund, that's 5 days ago of which only 3 are business days.
From everything stated in the forums topics, many of which you feel necessary to inject your  dissatisfaction   into, you can see most replies refer to at least 10 BUISNESS days.
I have  not read of any users NOT getting a refund.
Have patience.
