Hi I am having PC start up/disk errors. I have ran the Seagate Seatools and the C:drive passed. About a week ago I did get a warning from Avast about a blocked website. Within the last week when the computer booted up I got a warning that Avast and my Malware software had been turned off. I run Malwarebytes(paid) Superantispyware (paid) Spybot and Mcshield. No scan has turned up anything. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated Thank You Jeff

a diagnostic log may help https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
scroll down to Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and attach logs
-
Here are the FRST logs Thanks
-
I thought I would mention I am getting disk errors on my son's PC also. Seems kinda strange to disk errors and startup problems on 2PCs in the same house.
-
Could you run chkdsk /r on your c drive please as you have a lot of found clusters on the system
http://www.w7forums.com/threads/how-to-use-chkdsk-check-disk.448/
-
Is it avast that tells you it is disabled or is it windows telling you?
Essexboy,
AppInit_DLLs: Hö& => Hö& File Not Found
That is a strange one.
Looks like something is corrupted somewhere.
-
A vast was shut off again this morning. I now have 2 Pcs doing the same thing. Windows 7 on one and Vista on the other both boot up with errors.
-
Cannot run chkdsk on the Vista file is corrupt and unreadable
-
A vast will not open on the Windows 7 pc. It says You are unprotected
-
Can you post a image (or a phew) of the errors?
Taken with a Digital camera, phone or something.
-
I was going to leave the appint until after the check disc but as it is now showing corrupt....
We will work one system at a time starting with the 7
Download and Install Combofix
Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here (http://forums.whatthetech.com/How_Disable_your_Security_Programs_t96260.html&pid=494216#entry494216)
- Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
- Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

- When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
- Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.[/b]
Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.
Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now
-
I cannot get online
-
Combofix is stuck in a continuous loop Now what do.I.Do

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

Here is the fixlog. I am currently in Safe mode with networking. I was on my phone.
-
I am sorry I did not answer your question. Yes we have lost power a couple of time recently. We lost just Cable and internet q week ago
-
Hmm that fix appears to have copied wrong
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST and press fix
I am wondering if you actually have a file system problem with the power outages.
Does safe mode work OK ?
If so we will use clean boot to run things from normal windows
In the search box type Msconfig and select the programme that appears at the top
1.In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.
2.Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
NoteThe Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.
3.Click the Services tab.
4.Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
5.Click Disable All, and then click OK.
6.When you are prompted, click Restart.
-
Here is the fixlog. Thanks for your help
-
How is the computer behaving in clean boot mode ?
-
No errors . Firefox has been crashing also and it is working fine now.
-
Unfortunately we now get to the tedious part.. Determining which service is causing the problems
Could you run MSConfig again and re-enable half of the services
Reboot
Does the system behave still
If it does then re-enable half of the remaining services
Reboot
If not then disable half of those that you re-enabled and reboot
The object here is to narrow it down to the one that is causing the problem
-
I enabled Adobe ,Avast and SAS(SuperAnti Spyware) Avast still will not run "You Are Unprotected" if I select resolve all nothing happens
-
OK we will re-install Avast
Download Avast Uninstall Utility (http://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility) to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe)
Avast Pro (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe)
Avast Internet Security (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe)
Avast Premier (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe)
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel
- Run the uninstall tool and accept the reboot to safe mode
- Once complete reboot your system
- Reinstall Avast
----------
-
The Basic Services were not on so I enabled that. Currently installing
-
So far so good. Combofix finally completed it's scan. Here is the log. The PC is performing good.
-
I enabled all services this morning and the PC froze. I went back in and disabled Light scribe ?Internet Pass Thru Nuance Netgear remote access Secunia and it seems to run fine.
-
OK so one of those services is causing the problem.. Now we need to determine which one. First though do you require any of those services ?
-
Not really. I like Secunia Nuance is part of the software that Installed with my printer/scanner. Ligghtscribe I do not use.Internet pass thru I don't know what that is for.
-
OK leave those disabled for now and let me know what problems remain if you re-enable the rest
-
Thanks again for all your help. Firefox crashed this morning(unresponsive) which was one of the issues previously. I reset it and so far in limited use it is working.
-
It might be worth uninstalled the thre disabled programmes and then downloading newer copies if you need them
Let me know if Firefox starts misbehaving, but if the system is now stable let me know and I will tidy up
-
I uninstalled Nuance and Light Scribe. I don't know what program Internet pass thru is associated with. What is interesting is that under the start up programs Avast is turned off. When I enable it, it does not stay enabled. It is running tho.
-
Run a repair of Avast and see if that cures it
-
ok that worked
-
OK then how is the computer now ?
-
It is working fine. I have some files in the C drive "found.000 thru found.05" that were not there before.
-
Those are from chkdsk and can be deleted
In that case methinks I will send you on your merry way :)
Subject to no further problems :)
I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems
Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean
A good workman always cleans up after himself so..The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:
Click Start then Run.
On Windows7 or Vista you may use Start Search field if Run is not available.
In the box copy/paste the following command:
ComboFix /Uninstall
Note that there is a space between " ComboFix " and " /Uninstall " .
Then click OK (or press Enter ).
Wait for the uninstall process to complete.
Download and run Delfix (http://general-changelog-team.fr/fr/downloads/finish/20-outils-de-xplode/9-delfix)
Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:
CryptoPrevent (http://www.foolishit.com/vb6-projects/cryptoprevent/) install this programme to lock down and prevent crypto ransome ware
(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/CryptoPrevent.JPG)
Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php).
Update and run weekly to keep your system clean
It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.
