At least allow me to turn off audio notification and just have the visual popup.

There is no such thing as audio notification in avast! for mac...

This was already answered many times here - it is not possible as the notification centre
is not on all supported systems and does not provide all features required for the avast
popups.

I get that avast! still supports Snow Leopard that doesn't have native notifications. I don't understand what other functionalities would be needed? The background colours?

Speaking of which, can I make a suggestion?
Can you at least make them graphically/visually more like the native notifications? Right now they they just don't fit with the rest of the appearance of OS X. The same way you have altered the visual appearance of the main app window to fit the rest of the OS.
