Title: Restore point set to 100% on system drive - NG
Post by: essexboy on September 20, 2014, 01:20:55 PM
As with several other posts in the main thread I have system restore jumping to 100% on installation of this beta.  I thought it would be better as a separate topic

OK I see think i have figured this out on how this thing works. It needs a fresh or latest restore point on the system to make a vm.And thats exactly why i was looping in this constantl because after reverting the settings the restore points were gone so I made a fresh restore point with orginal settigs.Disabled self defense and deleted vhd files.Rebooted and voila within 10 minutes it made a vm but again settings got altered so if you revert it back it will again give you same issue.

According to pk post @
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=154857.msg1125938#msg1125938
it's bug of beta2 (setting system restore to 100% capacity).

I've rolled back to beta 1 because of this excessive system use.
Hard to beta test or do anything else on the computer when NG is sucking up all of the resources.
For those with smaller /fuller drives, setting restore point to 100% could present other problems as well.

Can't you go into programs and features and remove NG for now?

I'll simply wait till the bug is fixed.

This is an interesting one - what happens for those that disable system restore, having chosen drive imaging software to replace system restore ?

Hi David.
Mine was turned on with the setting at 100%.

I don't use system restore so it is normally off.

I did manually go back in and turn it off and it has stayed off so far.

My system restore remained turned off but mine is controlled by Samsung Magician for my SSD so that may have higher priority.

Thanks guys, it will be good to find out from pk, etc. how this may impact on NG if system restore is subsequently switched off (manually of automatically by other software).
