Title: WmiPrvSE.exe on Firefox Start-up
Post by: REDACTED on September 20, 2014, 10:40:31 PM

Since updating to FF 32.0.2, 'WmiPrvSE.exe'' starts automatically on Firefox start-up.
Some people suggested that Avast may be the cause, but WmiPrvSE.exe starts with FF even if Avast is disabled.
Any idea how to fix it?

Win 7, 32-bit, Avast 9.0.2021.

Thank you.

Are you using a proxy ?

Thank you Eddy. I wasn't notified of your reply.

The default is using the system proxy. I changed the setting to 'No Proxy', but it didn't make a difference.
Anyway, it only started after the last FF update.

It seems to be caused by something in the latest FF that has changed.
I suggest you use Sysinternals Process Explorer to find out more.

Some Win 7-Firefox 32 users reported that the process does not start with FF. Up until a couple of days ago, it wouldn't start on my system either.

I use Process Hacker.
Even when 'WmiPrvSE.exe' is running, this is what I see in the Services tab:
