Hello,

Let's start with the big boy for now ...

(notice for myself: zoek/browsers > ac; > reset br.sett.)

1. Please download ComboFix by sUBs ((http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/IconComboFix.png)) from here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) and save it to your Desktop.
If you are unsure how ComboFix works, read this guide (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix).

--------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may interfere with Combofix.
If you are unsure how to do this please read this (http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f50/how-to-disable-your-security-applications-490111.html) or this (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html) Instruction.

Instructions how to disable avast:
• Right click on the avast! system tray icon ((http://www.mcshield.net/pg/images/avast5.png)) in the lower right corner of the screen and scroll up to avast! shield controls;
• In the menu that appears, choose Disable Permanently. When you are prompted to turn off security, click Yes.

Note:  Do not forget to turn back on this option after the cleaning by choosing avast! shield controls > Enable all shield options.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Run ComboFix. Then, on disclaimer window, click I Agree! button.

- ComboFix will check if there is a newer version of ComboFix available.
Click Yes if prompted to download.

-If Recovery Console is not installed, ComboFix will offer download & installation.
Click Yes to allow ComboFix to install Recovery Console.
- ComboFix will scan your computer in stages, total of 50 stages.
Do not mouse-click around while ComboFix is running.
- If malware is detected, ComboFix will begin with its removal, and may need to restart Windows.
Note:If you see a message like "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion" just restart your computer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
4. When the tool is finished, it will produce a log report for you. (typical location: C:\ComboFix.txt)
=> Attach log report (ComboFix.txt) back to topic.

ComboFix shall also create addition log (typical location: C:\Qoobox\ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt)
=> Please attach that report (ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt) as well.

I hope the scan did fully work.
Avast was off.
Could not find how to switch off the microsoft security function.

Both files are attached.

Thanks for your help, curious to know what is next.

Hello,

Multiple Antivirus Programs

You are running more than 1 Antivirus program!

AV: avast! Antivirus *Disabled/Updated* {17AD7D40-BA12-9C46-7131-94903A54AD8B}
AV: Microsoft Security Essentials *Enabled/Updated* {4F35CFC4-45A3-FC37-EF17-759A02E39AB1}

Running - more than one - antivirus program is not recommended because:[list=1]
I strongly suggest you uninstall one of them.  Which one, is your decision.

==============================

Let's continue. ComboFix did a good jub here. Now it is tome for some additional hunting ...

But before we continue we shall reset Chrome browser settings back on defaults. This is how you will do that:
https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214?hl=en

Please download Zoek tool by Smeenk ((http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/Zoek_icon.png)) from here (http://hijackthis.nl/smeenk) and save it to your Desktop.
Unpack the archive...
Code: [Select]
Uninstall-List;
FilesRCM;
StartupAll;
ipconfig /flushdns >> %temp%\log.txt;b
bitsadmin /reset /allusers >> %temp%\log.txt;b
EmptyFoldersCheck;Delete
EmptyCLSID;
FFDefaults;
ResetIEProxy;
ShortcutFix;
AutoClean;

Hi I have run the zoek.exe and attached the outcome.  (I guess .txt  is also ok, I could not see .log)

Before that I have taken of the microsoft essentials.
When starting chrome to put is to default setting Avast cam up with the threat from the title, but also a second threat was blocked: hxxps://codegv.ru.

Has a lot of info been removed now from PC, how do I best understand from the log what was taken out?  (just to see that I later not miss something I would still need)

Please let me know any next step.
And of course thanks for help so far.

Could you temporaly disable avast! AntiVirus and again reset the Chrome settings back to defaults. Let me know how that passes...

Do not bother.  ;D For these analysis people goes to online schools just to read how to analyze the logs and how to write the scripts.

You just had a lots of adware (PUP) and junk files ...

Re-run zoek with the sam way as you did before but this time use this script:

Code: [Select]
C:\Users\ADMIN\AppData\Roaming\.ACEStream;vs
EmptyAllTemp;
nneajnkjbffgblleaoojgaacokifdkhm;chr
Reboot;

Apon reboot, post me thee fresh created zoek report.

Hi Magna,

Done the items as instructed. Here is the log.

Almost done?

Thanks again!!

NB. I have two files in this directory that I am unable to delete by any means/any shredder:
C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\TempRec\TempSBE   {5C1549BF-70F8-429C-90C5-3E872609BB83}.tmp.sbf   and  {BA13D8BB-70DA-4668-A248-470B39C2B622}.tmp.sbf Each of them is about 500MB.
They were found by Clean Master (http://www.cmcm.com/en-us/clean-master-for-pc/), which I first use on Android and now also saw that they had a PC application.

These files shouldn't be touched as they are protected. And these files are not malware related.

Could you please re-run FRST tool, hit the scan button and post me the fresh FRST.txt reprot.

Also, start Chrome browsers, press meny button (upper right side ) and select Abaut Google Chrome.

Post me the screenshot of that windows as I need to check something.

Hi Magna,

Here you go.

I guess Chrome needs a new download. It tried to update when I clicked on about. Then ended with this screen that I captured.

Over to you!

Hi,

I didn't check the version of Chrome, I have checking something else ...

How is your computer behavior now?

I do not get any messages anymore.
I think you are right that the computer is faster with no longer using Microsoft Essentials, and maybe also the further cleanup.
I was already cleaning regularly, but this did more.

Let me know what you further need for Chrome. The main browser I use is Firefox.

Is it correct that the main problem was AceStream? OR something related to Acestream?

Thanks!

You had a few new variant of adware that infect Chrome in a special way. That's fixed now. I shall remove all used tools now.

The following will implement some post-cleanup procedures:

=> Please download DelFix (http://general-changelog-team.fr/fr/downloads/finish/20-outils-de-xplode/9-delfix) by Xplode to your Desktop.

Run the tool and check the following boxes below;
(http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/checkmark.png) Remove disinfection tools
(http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/checkmark.png) Create registry backup
(http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/checkmark.png) Purge System Restore

Click Run button and wait a few seconds for the programme completes his work.
At this point all the tools we used here should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt)

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

Done!

Magna86, Thanks for all of this.

Should I not keep any of the tools that you have let me work with? OR what should I monitor regularly?

No, these tools are not for common usage.

If any problem remains, feel free to bump this thread and I will respond.  ;)
