Just use search option for "RPC error" I think, you'll get all the answers. Just search, read, and then come back here if the question still remains. ;)

What were you doing when you received this error?
What version of avast! are you using?
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, avast! Anti-Virus, Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
