Title: Avast 2015 error sending email with Outlook
Post by: REDACTED on November 21, 2014, 12:25:27 AM
Running 2015.10.0.2208 on Windows 7 64-bit system.

After recent Avast program update, unable to send emails via Outlook 2007.  Receiving incoming emails OK.

Error message: 530 5.7.0 No AUTH command has been given.

After turning off Mail Shield, problem goes away, but returns when Shield is turned back on.  Rebooting PC doesn't help.

99% of all Outlook issues can be resolved with clean un/re-install of Avast.....does not really take too long.
The issue centers around the outlook plugin getting corrupt.
See the how-to in my signature.

Import avast's certificate in Outlook and see if it solves the problem.

@Eddy put this in redundant thread....good suggestion before clean un/re-install to try.

The latest Avast 2015 upgrade has disabled my Outlook 2007, as well.  I can send mail but can't download it.  When using an encrypted connection, I get the error that my encryption method isn't supported. Without encryption it says it can't access my server. When I disable the shields everything works fine.  I'm POPing 3 accounts and they all behave the same way.

I've tried running avastclear, rebooting, and reinstalling, but the results are the same. Everything worked fine before the upgrade.

I see a system tray warning saying Avast SecureLine Disconnected.  That page in the UI says "SecureLine has encountered a technical issue. The online content is unavailable. Please, check your internet connection and try again."  My Internet connection is fine.  Clicking Reload has no effect -- the same error comes up.  Turning off SecureLine has no effect.  I'm not on a VPN, so I don't know why I'd need this tool.

Turning off GrimeFighter (a previous culprit in this kind of problem) also has no effect.

This is a Win7 SP1 PC.

P.S. Chrome also won't run, even when all shields are disabled.
P.P.S. I got rid of the SecureLine error by rebooting, but still can't POP my email.
P.P.P.S This is a 64 bit machine, but it's a 32 bit version of Outlook.

I finally reverted to a restore point before the update.  The problem is fixed (for now).
