Title: turning off file sharing in Windows XP!
Post by: Omar on September 01, 2005, 06:19:27 PM
I am after some advice!

I do not use any peer 2 peer programmes at all such as kaaza etc. I have no plans either to start using such programmes.

I have read that file sharing is a bad thing, so I want to switch off file sharing from my computer. My computer is at home. So I am talking about a family computer.

How do i switch it off? If I switch it off will it have a negative impact on my computer. Will it cause any problems in the long run?

That depends entirely on the types of files that you're sharing.
The files Available on (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v190/bob3160/MySharedFiles.jpg) (http://bob3160.no-ip.org:4445/) are perfectly acceptable for sharing. :)

File sharing is on default disabled.
If you have not enabled it yourself, you don't have to change anything

Omar, if you have XP and Windows Firewall, don't forget to disable the file sharing THERE.
So your files can't be shared in the Internet (or stolen  ;D).
