You didn't lost it, it is the new NG component that is using that space as has been explained many times already on this webboard.
-
can you give me link , my space coming down day by day what i do with this ?
-
If you don't want to use NG, just remove it.
-

Control panel > software > avast > change > untick NG

The vast majority of files are in your user account so it may be worth seeing what is in there and deleting the ones that are taking up the most space (if you do not need them)
-
Well i will remove that one becoz i have no need but the main problem is that i lost daily 300mb are 200mb are some days 500 mb space . Before i never face such problem . Where is going my space daily when i start my pc i lost 200 mb in stand by when just the pc booted .

Windows updates does have backup copies of files on the system, these can be removed by using disc clean-up in elevated mode you can also remove old restore points that way
-
i have no restore point , its also disable . i update this ver online from old ver , can i remove and install a new copy of avast ?
-
Yep...
Without system restore I hope you have a backup image of your windows drive

I had the exact same problem. The other day it popped up that my Internet Security was over so had to switch to the 2015 free version. Started with 90gigs and after 1 day doing a boot-scan i came on to find I had 16gig left. So i went on to delete programs which ended up make the storage keep going down and down. So i went on to delete AVAST 2015 Free and then bam it went back up to 90 gigabytes of memory. Ive been using AVAST for a super duper long time years and years so I'd still like to keep using it but I can't seem to figure out how to fix the problem either.
-

I found that the problem that was taking all the memory was the program RESCUE DISK that u can click on installing AVAST programs. So I unclicked it when I reinstalled AVAST and the problem was fixed. Hope that helps

I am having similar problems of rapidly losing precious SSD space after update to 2015. I will try uninstalling NG and rescue disk and see if I can get some of it back. Otherwise I will uninstall avast, use avast cleaner and reinstall with both unchecked.
I am using Pro. How do I get my license back after a clean install?

I uninstalled NG and Rescue Disk, but only got a few hundred MB back. How do I get my several lost GB back? Uninstall entire avast, use avast cleaner and reinstall? Any other less painless way?

Thanks. I guess probably re-inserting the license file I received previously by e-mail would also work.
-
You're welcome. And yes.
-
Any ideas anybody, I am still losing disk space. And the only software change (other than MS updates) has been Avast!
-
Where is the space being taken ? Use windirstat top determine this
-
Please look at this and see if you can help. I had about 13-14 GB free on my 50GB (shown as 46 GB) SSD before the 2015 Avast! 2015 update. It is now down to 6.7GB.
-
I would look in program files and <files> to see what is in there taking up the space. Use the + mark in windirstat to open
-
This is the problem -> https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=163039.0
New Avast is automaticly moving reserved space for system restore to 50% !!!
And you can't find these system restore files with windirstat or windows folder view, because they are invisible. Users only can see that something is everyday eating their free space but cannot find any new files that cause this because everything is hidden.
First delete your system restore files and move your max usage slider to something like 5%
(http://i59.tinypic.com/2gvtyxw.jpg)
But avast might move the slider back to 50% again and fill your SSD with trash and eventually destroy your SSD (for having too little space for SSD to breathe)
so, the solution: uninstall avast and use something else.

So is this the new strategy for Avast? Let's fill users' free space and they have no idea what happened, then those helpless users might buy pro version of Avast so they could use Grimefighter feature to try free more space. This is exactly how some serious malware/trojans/viruses works (for example. encrypting all files and make user to pay to unencrypt those). This is so unfkingbeliavable! >:(

Thanks dazzler, my system restore reserved space is 50%!!! It is using more than 9 GB of my precious SSD!!! Absolutely unacceptable by avast. I am repeating my post in the referenced thread in the hope that avast! listens. I am using pro version anyway but refuse to use Grimefighter and all their other useless add-ons. Which guy at avast thought of this nonsense? : This is terrible >:(. Over the years I have noticed that avast anti-virus which used to be a light and great AV has become more and more bloated and intrusive than Norton/Symantec.
What if I disable system restore on my OS partition and enable it on my normal data disk partition? Will avast! use that or re-enable this stupid setting!?
I do expect a reply avast! and a solution quickly. I do not want this to stress out and lose my SSD prematurely. I will be forced to switch.

Just disable NG, if you don't want/need it.
-
I have already disabled / uninstalled NG through add/remove programs and rebooted, but I was unable to recover any disk space. System restore was taking up 9GB of my small OS SSD. NG.
I have now set the system restore disk space at 5% which gave me a message that some system restore points will be deleted, I let it delete them and recovered 6-7 GB already. Let me see after a reboot whether avast! without NG will again set the system restore disk space reservation to 50% or leave it at 5%.

So far all seems ok after uninstalling NG and setting system restore reserved space to 5%. I got back my lost SSD space and hopefully now will reduce the stress on the SSD which was filling up fast.

OK, sounds good.

my problem was solved after install a new copy of window :)
my window was too old and no problem from long time but when i update avast start problem here
now i install new window and no problem yet , and i hope no problem will be next

Thanks for the answers on this topic I regained the fee space lost. Reducing the reserved space worked by the moment. Can someone confirm NG will reset the system restore space to 50%?
Also, Is the NG component actually useful for a standard user? Seems like a very advanced tool for me to use it.

Do you think it might be determined by the size of your hard drive?
I use NG and run win 8.1 on a 500g hard drive.
My restore space was at 50% but I reset to 12% when this topic started and it has remained there.
