Post by: alan2k on September 03, 2005, 04:56:15 PM
hi friends, i have installed avast in my pc for 6 days.
I have change the configuration of my OE (while close) with the wizard, and everything works well until i shuy down the pc and turn on the next day.
I have windows 98, and the problem is that i get "couldnt connect to the server....127.0.0.1".
i dont want avast to scan my outgoing email, so there i have my own stmp address, but in the pop3 i have the avast 127.0.0.1

I followed the avast faq instructions to solve this, but this is my problem.

hope you can help
me, regards
alan

If you have Windows 98\Me, the change of the login settings is normal while using avast. See http://forum.avast.com/index.php?action=display;board=2;threadid=7913;start=0#msg64228

With Win98 SE you should have:

pop3 server = 127.0.0.1
username = mail.server.coml#user or mail.server.com#user@server.com
smtp authentication should be as you need it or not

You should uncheck the smtp scanning into avast! settings.
You should allow ashmaisv.exe to connect to your firewall.

Check if the mail scanner process (ashMaiSv.exe) is running. The wizard should have created auto start item in registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run) to make it automatically start o every log on.
