Title: Streaming definition updates not working
Post by: Riley7 on December 24, 2014, 05:50:25 AM
The streaming definition updates seem to be not working, since updating to Avast 2015, a few days ago. Is the server down, or a program bug? I don't generally look for update popups.
The Avast update panel shows me this:

Virus definitions
Current version:  141223-1
Release date:     12/23/2014  12:08:31 PM
Connection:       Connection established
Last update received: 12/23/2014  5:41:09 AM

Current local time is 12/23/2014  8:45 PM

Clicking the update button changes nothing. Someone please explain

I just looked where I think the streaming updates should be on Win 7 and there was no streaming folder  C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs

I`ve noticed the same thing.
Last update I received was 12/23 at 3:47 pm.Nothing since.
Manual update just states it`s up to date.

Nothing here since I switched on my pc at 1738 GMT on the 23rd, looks like the streaming updates aren't being generated at Avast's end.

Mine one is working ok. Last streaming updates I have received was on 25/12/2014 @ 12:14:06pm. Looks like it's working now. Sometimes avast server goes down but the VPS updates gets updated even though no pop-up message appears in Avast 2015.

I think the streaming servers aren't being updated.  AvastSvc.exe has r-063-041-234-077.ff.avast.com established contact, but no updates.  AvastSvc.exe is locked on this server for a considerable time.

Now it's showing 0 streaming updates within the past 24 hours.

Of course it will time marches on, if no streaming updates have been released in the period the number in 24hrs will reduce - this figure will always be fluid. There is also no way you can easily compare as it will also be dependant on your time zone in relation to avast's.

Looks like they are working again.  Just looked and have gotten 12 updates.  Not a lot but certainly better than 0!!

DavidR - where do you see the VPS number in 2015?  I used to see that on the popup which we don't get anymore.  I see the streaming updates, but not the VPS.

Right click on the avast tray icon, select about avast. Or you can do it long hand by opening the avastUI > Settings > Update - different screen same information, slightly different layout.

I see I am not the only one whose streaming updates did not work on Dec 24.

I also note the coincidence that day that my server says I uploaded 0.36GB that day, which is a lot more than usual up to 0.04.

Anyone else notice anything like that?

I'm in New Zealand.
