Title: Win7 64 Pro boots but does not recognise keyboard
Post by: AlEebee on January 11, 2015, 04:23:16 PM
I have just uninstalled and reinstalled Avast Premier 2015 to try to see if I can get Grimefighter to work before asking for a refund.

The reinstall did not help and after making changes to Avast through Control Panel I had to do a further reboot.

The PC takes forever to load (getting hung up on aswRvrt.sys I think as it hangs there booting in Safe Mode.

Normal boot gets there eventually but when I have the user login the keyboard is not recognised and I cannot enter my password to proceed further

Welcome to the forum.
See if you can get to Safe Mode by rebooting and continuously hitting the F8 key.
Once you boot into safe mode, revert to a restore point created prior to your current problem.

Thanks. I seem to have managed to get back in. Here's hoping! This was he last thing I needed today with the work I need to get done.

Will report further & looks like I should just dispense with Grimefighter & hope that gets me back to a boot time of under 10 minutes!!

I can't argue with you on that decision. :)

There are a lot of posts on keyboard issues......Avast had previous issue with driver.
I've attached a pic on how to use the EASE button to at least use on the on-screen keyboard with your mouse as temp way.

It is your call but I'd do a CLEAN (see my signature) un-re-install of Avast.
Also during the "install" choose CUSTOM and only check the items you want installed.
For me, I just use the FREE Avast and uncheck everything (every tool), except I leave the Avast Shields.
It is personal preference and obviously what features/functions you want but some Forum search & Googling on the feature/tools you "think" you want is worth the time......don't just install on faith.
