Title: Time out
Post by: REDACTED on January 12, 2015, 11:22:58 AM
Interesting quirk... My computer was bought in August.  Free Avast antivirus has been installed on 13th Dec 2014. Today - a month later - the program warns me that I a have used it for a year already and have only a month to go. One wonders how it could happen so quick..

Thank you for the link. I do know how to prolong my subscription. In this case I'm already registered so the real problem is different. That is time count is perhaps wrong because of New Year Eve or something...

Repair Avast:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> Avast
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Thanks for the attention, Asyn, but no dice. The registration month' time just ticks off the same. Now it's 14 days left. I guess this free Avast was a two month subscipt perhaps; and I just have not paid much attention to small letters somewhere.

1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

Thanks again, Asyn. I did what you had proposed; and start with a bright new Avast registration for a year. However it doesn't really solve the issue I started to pine about first. I got the previous installation from this same site (by the way I have Windows 7). And this shrinkage of registration time through the New Year eve down to 2 month span eerily reminds me of so called Millenium glitch long ago.We live and see; and I'll be back to the topic if something happens again...
