Title: Slow system - AIS "Program version 2014.9.0.2208" - Really?
Post by: Vladimyr on January 25, 2015, 05:45:57 AM
Here's the latest setback in my quest to keep using AIS licenses.

When I posted All the problems I had with AIS 2015.10.0.2208 are now gone! (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=161805.msg1157477#msg1157477), I was happy to have resolved these issues by reverting to 2014.9.0.2010. Sadly, it didn't last.

A couple of days ago the PC (see signature) became really unresponsive. "Task Manager" showed little CPU activity, "Hmmm, just like when 2015.10.0.2208 was installed" - I thought.
Got a real surprise when I checked Avast.
1. SafeZone had again disappeared  >:(
2. "About avast!" showed I had a non-existent version 2014.9.0.2208  :o
3. Reboot required  ??? - despite having set Program updates to Manual

I've already got a couple of spare licenses because a client has changed from AIS to Qihu 360TS on his similar Athlon XP CPU machines with apparent success. Looks like I'll be heading down the same path  :(

Have a little patience.
There will be a new release of avast this week or next month.
Not sure when because avast said this week and 1 person from avast said next month.
It could very well be the "slowdown" issues are solved in that version.

Patience expired weeks ago. Been running on loyalty alone ever since.  :-\

Patience never expires.
If you think it does, you don't have enough of it ;)

Brief follow-up.
After uninstalling 2014.9.0.2208 & reinstalling AIS 2015.10.0.2208 (without firewall because I had trouble with it the first time) the system seems to be going quite nicely.
However, I'm thinking of asking 'support' to change my 3-user 1-year license to a 1-user 3-year if SafeZone isn't compatible with my hardware and I can't use the firewall.
