Yes, I agree there. It is a sorry state of affairs. Moreover we have lost some very good and dear friends in the process, and saddened a few others. This cannot pass unnoticed however. Those responsible will be taken to account not by members of this forum, but just by the arrogance of their deeds. We have seen this coming a long time now. Inaction on moments that action should have been taken, made things run out of hand. PMs that should have been sent, never were. Ego clashes were not nipped in the bud. All very understandable and nobody is to blame, but it could have been all different. Well there will be something new on the horizon. Keep on fighting malware. All is well that ends well,

In my opinion, the closing of the Off-Topic board can be discussed here, although I won't participate in such a topic.

Eddy perhaps you could suggest a forum heading that would be acceptable to discuss this issue
as OFF topic was closed due to the actions of so few I await your knowledgeable reply ;D

That's right we are talking about this forum i don't see anything wrong with that.But if the moderators feel we can't talk about this then they can always lock this thread or delete it right?

How can a problem be truly solved by running away from it
Precisely my argument but the answer was to take the easy way out and close the Off-Topic forum.

I am normally a passive person, i agree 100% with the above statement.
What next a question about avast you felt the reply was abusive, you send abuse back etc.
Then is that topic closed and moved to another forum.
Other forums the people involved are warned and if they don't change they are barred from the forum.
With all the flaming in the off Topic the Flamers 1 Avast Nil.
From now on must watch replies might offend, Pity this doesn't work in the real world.

The only good thing is that at this time the information in the Off-Topic forum is still available.
We might not be able to post in there but, we can still referr to the information on that forum.

The fact is the off-topic forums is closed and the only place to discus this is with the person who closed it, Pavel by PM or email, he may be able to reopen it (with stronger rules) at some point in the future. However I feel it shouldn't be discussed in another Forum contrary to the request by Pavel "Please do not use the other specialized forums for offtopic stuff."
Well that's my 2p worth and last post in this thread.

They are still available right now and are still at the top of the list in the Off-Topic forum.
A better idea is to re-open that forum with stricter rules. IMHO

You can still enter and browse the contents of the off-topic but you will notice the absence of any New Topic, Reply/Quote buttons or the quick reply box at the bottom of the threads, e.g. you can't post, that is what is meant by locked (no more posts).

I understand everyone is depressed with the idea, and so am I even though I'm not one the forums' active members, but I enjoyed a visit to the off-topic forum. I've made an avatar (which I'm wearing, as is Ricky.) for anybody to use. Please use it if you support the decision to bring back the off-topic forum.

Alwil closed the Off - Topic Forum and only Alwil will decide if it reopens.
We can all get as annoyed as heck but that will not restore the forum.
Maybe Alwil would reopen it if certain changes and restriction where put in place but that
again is something that has to come from Alwil.

I still do not fully understand why the Off Topic was closed.
If people get upset with replies ignore them etc.
One last thing in the outside world if i ((closed down)) everybody that has upset me with what they have said.
