Title: Avast Home Edition Expiring
Post by: Skelator on November 04, 2003, 03:17:20 AM
I was wondering if the Home Edition 4.1.268 is soppose to expire as I see it counting down the days. I have multiple times tried to register it but nothing occurs when doing so.

I also have notice that when I downloaded it that I was downloading according to the link provided Avast! Pro and not the Avast! Home Edition which is confusing. I see it saying I have the Home Edition but rather it's counting down and says it cannot be renewed by looking at the registration key and it says  "Time Limited" "Updates Expiration<not" "Product: Server".

Did I some how get a wrong download as this is the second time downloading it, also I have removed it once without a problem and reloaded the new one with a new amount of days.

Thanks for your help and yes I put Avast! to the test and it caught every one of the suspected email viruses!

Also Avast! is now listed as one of the antivirus downloads on www.aumha.org as a suggestion from myself.

The registration part is what has myself wondering as it says I should recieve a confirmation email but never did.

Thanks and keep up the great work,
Kenny

Well did you register and if you are not sure then you didn't????

Registration is a buzz word windows users who want free stuff shiver when hearing, but avast registration is free, but required to continue using the product.

I should recieve a confirmation email but never did.

Use the link posted by Vlk. Try to register again. You must provide a valid email address and, in this email, you will have the registration key for avast!  ;)

Ok, I have waited for over 12hrs since registering the software which I have done so in the past and the same result, No email confirmation saying it was received. I believe this is either the 5th or 6th time I have tried this and using my valid home email address along with my real name and home address. I have looked to see if I may have mistakenly blocked Avast from sending myself emails but all appears ok.

I'm positive I have registered the product but it never comes back to myself for confirmation. I also used that link this morning to register it.

Also if I check off in this window "wish to be notified of replies to this topic" that it doesn't work for myself.

Thanks,
Kenny

I suppose your email account is receiving/sending others emails than this from avast!  ;)
If I could, I sent you my Registration code...  ;D
Maybe, for the Home version, avast! team could receive your informations by email (the same as from the registration form) and sent you, by email, the registration code...  8)

My email address is skelator@prodigy.net which is what is registered in my profile. I would like to help in any issues involving Avast! but just to get through this is kinda funny. It could be something on my side but who knows till I find out more since I try alot of beta programs out and even if I think I have all the files out there may be something hehehe. I'm still not being notified of any reponses to these after you have responded back to myself and have clicked the notify box along with being logged in.

That sounds like email problems possibly with a spam filter set to restrictive (I.E.  Only allow those on my contact list or something like that).  Perhaps signing up for a yahoo or hotmail account just to test might be appropriate.  Who knows what other email you might not be getting if that is the case.

Skelator, I think the same as doggeral yesterday night in my dreams  8)
He was faster than I... Maybe the spamfilter or IE Senders Blockers...
I did not have any troubles receiving emails from avast!  :-\

Thanks all, I finally did track it down to a setting on the ISP's spamguard in which I had a long time ago set the filter to block all OverSeas mail due to getting hammered by viagra and other emails lol.

I guess I'm going to have to filter those in a different way seeing they still find thier way to myself anyways.

 Keep up the great support!

Thanks,
Kenny

If you need suggestions for spamkillers, take a look here (http://www.avast.com/forum/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=1509;start=0).

The avast! users suggest - more often - MailWasher and SpamPal (specially Culpeper), mantra uses Spamihilator...  ;D

To configure Spamihilator and avast! to be used in the same computer, please, see this related forum (http://www.avast.com/forum/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=1622).
