Title: avast firewall blocking media server
Post by: REDACTED on February 07, 2015, 06:02:00 AM
I've been having problems since I upgrade to Windows 8 with media servers, where no device could find my media server at all.  I finally realised last week that the problem is the Avast Firewall (I'm guessing the Avast update that caused this was around the same time I upgraded to Windows 8).  I now have to turn off the firewall to use the media server.

Does anybody know a way to exclude the media server from the firewall?  Cheers.

Look in the firewall log file to see what it has blocked and set the appropriate rule for it.
If I remember correctly there are other posts on this webboard that are explaining it.
Please use the search option.

Hi,

do you have your firewall set to home network? And what media servers do you have installed?
