Title: Secure line Google search
Post by: REDACTED on February 08, 2015, 06:47:24 PM
Since I have installed Secureline on my PC, whenever I connect to Google Chrome it sets the search engine by default to Google.CZ instead of Google.UK, I assume it is because my nearest connection seems to be Prague! Is this an Avast problem or a Google problem, either way getting in contact with both of them is proving difficult. Can anybody help?

It looks like google is using geo-location; the secure line is a bit like a secure proxy and depending on which connection IP is used google will think you are in that region and switch to that google search.

So essentially it is a google issue, but partly because of how secureline works in securing the connection.

I can recall some considerable time ago I found out how to force google not to use regional google sites but to use google.com always. It is some considerable time ago that I found this, but now I don't use Google search so I have forgotten exactly how I did it.  You could try a google search (I know, irony) for use google.com for searches

OK found this and it jogged the old brainbox into what I did.

The essence is to create another Search engine for Google-NCR (just to let you know it isn't the normal google search), the URL to enter is http://www.google.com/ncr
