I have no idea what is going on but every once in awhile avast uses 100% of my cpu out of nowhere. I have to restart to get it to stop.... Anyone know how to fix this? Is it a bug with Avast or am I getting hacked or something? I have had avast for a few years and never had this problem.... Also, when I shut down my computer it says Welcome To Avast as I turn it off???? Very strange... I tried scanning for malware with malware bites and nothing comes up... and I obviously scanned for viruses with avast premium and still nothing....
Anyone know what could cause this?

I should also mention that I did in fact reinstall Avast to see if that would fix it... It seemed like it did for a few days and then it did the 100% cpu usage again.

Problem with avast... multiple postsin the last 24 hours.

Look in taskmanager to see if there is a svchost running at 90+%
It there is use process explorer from Sysinternals (Microsoft), to see if dnsrslvr.dll is using it.
If it does, kill the process and the problem should be solved.

I have not had the issue today, but if it does it again i am just going to uninstall it and ask for a refund. I paid like 100 bucks for this and it has a bug that makes my cpu use 100%? That is scary. Also, if I have to uninstall my anti virus I will not be protected.... that is also scary.

I have the same problem. Process AvastSvc.exe 100 pourcent ... I restart my PC ... It's ok yet.
I have no virus or malware, troyen etc ...

Aaron, it can very well be that avast is using that many resources because it is scanning something on your system.
What os/sp ?
What exact version of avast ?
Is a particular shield causing it ?

Perform a clean installation of the latest one and see if it solves the problem.
