Title: entering your pin code secured on mobile
Post by: bamboomy on February 21, 2015, 02:12:59 AM
Dears,

When you authenticate to avast with a pin code this is a huge security risk on mobile!!!

Anyone can see which code you enter by evesdropping,

it shouldn't take more then 5 times watching you entering your pin to know it!!!!

There is an easy way of countering this,

If you 'scramble' the numbers an evesdropper can't know which numbers you entered,
not as easy anyway :-)

By scrambling I mean putting the number-keys randomly
enhanced by reordering them randomly again once a key has been pressed.

That way there is by no means enough time to see which numbers have been pressed,
not even after 100 evedrops.

It is a decrease in user friendlyness but I think the increase in security outweighs this defect.

This on the other hand can be countered by adding a dis- or enable setting for this functionality.

I know the code to write this is no more then 20 lines and I would surely enable it!!!

What do you guys think?

Friendly greetings,

S.

The solution is really simple.
Don't enter the pin if others can see what you type or what is shown on the screen.
