It's recommended to use the in-product update (Settings->Update->Program), if you have Avast already installed.
Enjoy this version, it's much better than the previous ;-)

Thnx Team :)

Installed this update, 2015.10.2.2214, within UI (updated from 10.0.2208) but problem now is Avast keeps saying an update is available, and shows 2015.10.0.2214 as newer version. Difference is 10.2 vs 10.0.
Things I have tried:
1) rebooting five times
2) repair
3) clicking Update, but says I already have latest version
Remove include removal with the removal tool. Reboot and do a clean install. :)
-
Currently my installed version of avast free doesn't say a newer version of Avast is available. Perhaps it will show up later on.
Thanks MartinZ for another great release of Avast :). I will update my avast to this version in a couple of days, because I ran out of broadband internet bandwidth :). I will report back after I upgrade to this release.
-
It still doesn't look like the all of the update servers have been updated (or are ultra busy) as my win7 netbook, which hasn't been used for beta builds reported 2015.10.0.2208 was up to date.
A further manual check appears to be downloading, however it is very slow and may even be stalled, has sat at the same progress point for over 5 minutes.
On my XP Pro system which has been used in the beta and RC builds has just thrown up a popup program update available. Update has completed on that (but the other system is still stalled) and I'm about to reboot.
-
Why is the free link only 5 megabytes?
I suspect that this is an on-line stub installer not the full setup file.
-
Need the full version avast... gimmee the juice!

They put the wrong number on the in program update so it isn't going to match up until they fix it

I did a full removal in safe mode then rebooted normally and installed new version, but same problem remains

See my post above... you're knocking yourself out for nothing... they have to fix the version being broadcast

Thx for the update!

I have finally updated (from the UI) my win7 system with 2015.10.0.2218 - previous attempt stalled did a reboot and tried again. This time it went through and it is reporting the correct version number 2015.10.2.2214.
So I don't know if that means an end to your issue.
-
Thanks for the update, I'll update my avast over previous beta :)

I didn't have any issue doing the update. I just finished rebooting.
-
I guess it depends on which update server our computers are looking at; some are correct and some not
-
Mine is showing the correct version number installed (2015.10.2.2214) but Avast central seems to be telling it that 2015.10.0.2214 is available and that I should update. As Dprout69 has said, it's probably just a case of waiting for Avast to broadcast the correct version number.

It shows the correct and current version I have installed but it's showing the wrong new version that is available (refer to bob3160 attachment and my attachment). I will update it in couple of days, because I ran out of broadband bandwidth lol.
-
Thx, updated now without problems.
German Release Notes here (http://forum.avadas.de/threads/7002-Avast-2015-10-2-2214-R2) for those who are interested.

I guess the real question for Avast is should the released version number be 2015.10.0.2214 or 2015.10.2.2214?

The first AvastUI.exe instance is main GUI application, the second instance is for displaying web-content inside GUI (main page) or for popups with web content.
-
Thanks everyone, is there any way to make it one instance again? It's not a huge deal if not, I'm assuming it's not using any more resources then it used to and it's just another instance splintered off to prevent crashing or such things. Steam recently did something similar.
I just don't like the idea of "Poups with web content." sounds like a way to allow some obtrusive advertising.

When you click on the Account tab within the avastUI you get another window open - this is for your my.avast.com information.
So I can't see you being able to just run one instance and how would you know which instance was doing what to be able to try and stop it. Not to mention the avast self-defence module would most likely object.
The same is true of other instances when you get another window being opened by the avastUI.

If you go to my.avast.com using your browser, no, there won't be another avastUI.exe as your browsing is handled by the main avast scanning function avastSvc.exe.
The two are running and as mentioned they handle different tasks if you want to go to your my.avast.com account from the avast GUI. When you click the Account tab in the GUI, the main GUI avastUI.exe would open another window - this is handled by the second instance. It doesn't open yet another one.

I guess so (2015.10.0.2214) though I don't know how this might be corrected; possibly an avast repair to correct out of sync information.

When I go to the account tab in the avast UI on the left hand side a third AvastUI.exe opens up, is this normal? I just want to make sure, I don't think anything is wrong with Avast, I'm just worried about the install somehow messing up and not getting protection. The third AvastUI.exe goes away if I leave the Account tab in the Avast UI.
-

I can't check this right now as I'm on my XP Pro system and this dual avastUI.exe doesn't occur.

I'm sure I have nothing to worry about, Avast tends to be pretty hasslefree outside of my own paranoia.

A very small installation file that does an on-line installation - you don't download the full 140MB ish off-line setup file.

So does anyone know if the update bug, where it says we need to update even when we don't will be fixed without us having to do anything more or will it require work from us?

Does browser cleanup integrated means there will be no option to not install browser cleanup during install?

This bug will be fixed on a server side. In a beta repository it is already there as expected.

HI I just thought I should mention I did update the U I but when the updater downloaded the new version and I restarted my desktop computer and I went back under the updater tab avast informed me that avast had a new program update but I had used the program updater to update to the lasted version all ready. The second time I did use the avast clear tool and removed and reinstalled the lasted program update for avast free and still when I went to settings and clicked on the update tab the program updater still states that their is a new version of the avast program and for me to install it now.
I hope this get fixed soon thanks avast team.

Problem in MyAvast account :
http://oi60.tinypic.com/5xs70w.jpg
I installed Browser Cleanup to see if bugs are fixed.I use it on demand and I disabled periodical check for bad addons.
-
I've just updated my avast free to 10.2.2214 and it messed everything.Blocks even avast web site, everything google...god knows what else.I've never had that issue but red that happened to others.Someone wrote that disabling https scanning solves the problem. It seems that does but is it really a solution?!How many others have this problem? Will avast staff do something to solve this problem, some update, patch..whatever?
P.S. Only Avast installed on fresh OS Win 7 x64 sp1.Firefox, Chrome, IE...no mail client.Plus Malwarebytes anti malware.Nothing changed in the system from this morning except i thought it was a good idea to update not just virus base but the program itself.Mistake.
P.P.S. The funny thing is that I can't even roll back by installing previous version.Every link is sending the latest and i don't have (backup) file I installed couple months back.Another mistake. (Is there anywhere to download version before the current?!) It seems that the latest is not always the greatest.
-
Just updated to this latest version and it does not work with Sandboxie..
When I try to open the Avast forum it says "site is either down or has permanently moved)
Works fine without sandoxie
Neither Firefox or Opera work sandboxed
both work with Web Shield disabled
worked fine before update to 2015.10.2214
maybe devs can give it a try
-

Sandboxie on Windows XP seems okay. I'm posting via a Sandboxed browser right now.

Finally got back online...
Installed on 8.1 and on two Win7x64...no issues.
A boring install process. ;D
-
update went fine here throught the program gui :) keep up the good work avast
-
I updated to this NEW version and afterward couldn't connect to internet. It said, "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration". Internet was working fine prior to update. That being the case, I restore my system back to the point before update and internet is working fine again. I will update Avast when you get this issue resolved.

NG System Requirements ?
OK having now updated my - Acer Aspire One netbook, Win7 Starter (32bit) 10.1", 1024X600 screen, 2GB DDR3 RAM, Intel Atom N255 (1.5GHz dual core) CPU. to 2015.10.2.2214. It also has only a 250GB HDD not SSD.
I have a question on NG system requirements - when I saw NG trying to get started (my firewall jumped on it), I thought what the h3ll. I even disabled MBAM Premium's resident protection as it has an adverse resource impact.
My system specs are pathetic if I do say so myself an Intel Atom N255 (1.5GHz dual core) processor and 2GB DDR3 RAM, this is so under powered it couldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding. And that is before NG would try to shoehorn its way into my system.
Watching paint dry would be marginally quicker and avast thinks it is powerful enough to run NG (or whatever it is now called). Someone has to review the system spec to even consider installing NG. Dual Core Intel Atoms are being used in tablets and phones and my Intel Atom is three years old for gods sake.

English is my second language. For the past years, since avast 7 - the current version of my installed avast I download avast free via download.com and the file size is small 5.22 MB (online installer). When I download that it downloads the vps updates and etc stuffs and installs etc stuffs and the main program. After that it does a quick start up scan and when it finishes i restart my laptop and register my copy of avast free.
So for the stub installer does it downloads the whole stuff or what? To be honest, this is the 1st time I am hearing about full and stub installer. Sorry about that. Explanation will be much helpful.

I'm seeing a bug in Avast:
The Avast overview screen says "You are Protected. All shields active. Everything up-to-date."
Yet the Update settings page says that I am running program version 2015-10-0-2208 and that version 2015-10-2-2214 is available.
I observed this problem on two different Windows machines. Incidentally, I have automatic update enabled, and it did not update by itself.
-
@ Staticguys
The stub installer is just an online installer. You get the rest of the program via web while it installs, and yes you get the "whole stuff".
Thanks Avast. I installed the new version cleanly and I am glad I did. Now Avast does not go crazy with WinPatrol.
Thanks. Much appreciated :). Just to be on the safe side and do right 1st time I will be doing a clean install and install this new version, because of the program update version change. Will report back things after that.

This should be resolved by doing an update for VPS and closing and restarting your GUI. Try doing a clean install. Remove your current one via add/remove and follow instructions. Run the avast uninstall utility in safe mode. Install a fresh new copy of avast once installed it will do a quick start up scan. Once that is finished. Restart your computer manually and register your copy of avast.

Not really a bug... your definitions are up to date and 2208 is still a relevant version. Auto update can take a while to download and install. Maybe the wording could be changed a bit but really its not inaccurate.
-
"Up-to-date" doesn't just mean fairly recent or not too old. By the definition of the word, something is up-to-date if it's using the latest information; current as of this moment or the moment of writing. Consult a dictionary. You can't call something up-to-date if it's not the latest.

You're being anal and playing semantics... like I said they could probably change the wording a little, but it's not like you're using a 3 year old version and your defs are 3 weeks old. Most of the changes in the current version are to make the program work more fluid with your system not to give you any greater level of protection to the point where a message needs to display saying you're not protected.
Additionally, nothing is every truly up to date... the second they release something it's already obsolete. The second they release a definition two more variations of the same virus were just released... don't be ridiculous.

Right taskbar ball, close all protective, blue screen, I hope as soon as possible, there are a lot of people have this problem.
Hi,
could you please add some specs of your system? Avast version and edition, OS version, 32/64bit, HW configuration etc.
Do I understand it correctly that you get a Windows blue screen when you disable all shields from the Avast taskbar icon?
Thanks.

From my previous couple of message in this section of this forum. I successfully installed avast 2015.10.2.2214 via clean install. Thanks heaps avast team for an another awesome release. Keep up the awesome work. Much appreciated 8)

Updated from with the GUI easily. But computer hung slightly on the request to reboot from the Avast update. Did a manual reboot and all is well. In the future Avast should change how the update installer works. It keeps the exclusions and such, as it should, but it should look to see if things like Web Rep are installed or not. If not, then it should not install them again without letting the user know. Otherwise working fine so far. Also, it would be nice if the Virus Chest is quickly located on the main interface screen. Right now, it is somewhat buried and takes some digging to find it.
Correction: Avast did not keep my exclusion list.

I am one of many that are having problems updating to 2015.10.2.2214. My WinXP SP3 system uses dial-up and I have been trying for several days to update from 2015.10.0.2208 to the new version. Using the on-line updater, I am completely unable to download ais_gen_gui_nosse2_cef-7cc.vxp.dld. This download always fails and restarts.
Since the on-line update over dial-up seems to be impossible, I downloaded the full offline update package from the Avast9 server at my library's broadband computers. This 140M byte package also fails to update my system. It gets about one third of the way through the process, fails, and reverts to my current 10.0.2208 version.
I have no problems of any kind updating the virus definitions. There must be major bugs with the servers.

Thanks.
After a few friends to explore, a blue screen appears after installing Web Shield; in removing the web protection after only contains the file protection and virtual machines NG, right-click the tray icon to close the open guard, slower reaction times, but no blue screen appears.
Not only this version, several versions exist in front of this issue.
System: win7sp1,32 bit Ultimate.
avast: Free Edition
Spam Protection: Right guard blocked due to Netease clients receive mail, so there is no installation.
This version comes with two avastui.exe process.

No solution found in Topic: Avast 2015.2.2014 not working with Sandboxie.
I found that the old (!) version 2015.10.0.2208 does NOT produce the problem.
I report the problem with Avast 2015.2.2014 here with more details:
Outside the sandbox I can access all web pages, especially *.google.com, *.yahoo.com, *bing.com
Inside the sandbox my Browsers say: Page not found for *.google.com and www.yahoo.com
Avast message pops up = Avast web shield has blocked access because the following certificate is unvalid:
*.google.com and www.yahoo.com
Inside the sandbox *bing.com is found, no problem
Tested with both, Firefox36.0.1 and Internet Explorer 11.
Latest versions of Sandboxie-4.16(64bit) and Avast-free-2015.10.2.2214 under Windows7-64.
Remove and Clean install of both Sandboxie and Avast does not help.
No problem with older (!) version of Avast on different PC, Avast-free-2015.10.0.2208 (and same Sandboxie-4.16(64bit), same firefox, same win7-64).
Has anyone tested to reinstall OLD VERSION 2015.10.0.2208?
I get the same screenshots reported under the present topic, shown by
"this version works perfectly" ?? Not for me.

Speculation is pointless - try it and see - and don't forget to do a custom install and that way you can see what will be installed and uncheck those features that you don't require.

This has been fixed a long long time ago.

:D
This version fixed my scan scheduling problem. Since the prior update I had to set the schedule 7 hours ahead to have it scan at the time I wanted it to scan. Then every 7th day it would actually scan at the 7 hours ahead time...what a pain. But now it works as it should.
-
Actually.. NO thank you...
Hi
This is for whom ever decided that this update should be released!
yesterday, all was well, this morning no internet connectivity no matter how i do it.. wireless, cable... nothing.
uninstalled avast...all good..reinstalled avast... no internet.
I'm running 8.1 pro 64bit....
Have I wasted my money?
I don't have time to waste on this.. so let me know when you think I should try to re-install.
Pull the bug... undo or fix whatever you've done that affects the network subsystem and re-release it.
Oh, and don't ask me a whole lot of "questions".... put 2 and 2 together...It's not hard people!

I only just noticed this post.
I haven't installed NG on any PCs with specs similar to yours yet, because I'm concerned about the subsequent poor performance.
The specified hardware requirements are riduculous, even without installing NG, https://www.avast.com/en-au/faq.php?article=AVKB1#artTitle
128MB RAM for an AV with VM? :o
I had to take it off an XP PC with 1.5GHZ CPU and 512MB RAM. Let's just say, the "paint" wasn't drying!!
-
@ John_Oz
What firewall are you using and is avast allowed access through that firewall ?

Updated through GUI and had empty scanning information windows which I posted about in the main forum. I tried repair unsuccessfully. I then found that Sleep Mode wouldn't awaken through a key stroke; I had to push the power button. I rolled back the update through a System Restore but I still have the same problem with Sleep Mode. Needless to say I'm not very happy and I wonder if anyone can help me.

Avast does not like system restore much. If you need to do one, it is recommended to deactivate Avast Selfdefence module first.
Any other security program active ?
Did you try a clean install ?
1.) Very important to remove all remains of other AVs installed before Avast. Use this site to execute uninstall utilities for other AVs.
http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB11#artTitle or http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/
2.) Download and save to your desktop avastclear.exe (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe)
3.) Download and save a fresh copy of Avast!. Be sure to have your lincense handy if running a paid version.
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe
4.) Open Avast! > Settings > Troubleshooting > Uncheck " Enable Avast! self-defense module ".
5.) Uninstall Avast! normally through Control Panel > Programs & feature ( Vista, W7 ) or Add and remove programs ( XP ). Reboot. If you can not complete this step, continue with step # 6
6.) Even if you were able to uninstall Avast! in step # 5, it is important to run avastclear.exe in Safe Mode
How to use avastclear: http://www.avast.com/en-us/faq.php?article=AVKB10#idt_02
NOTE: When executing avastclear, it will ask to be run in safe Mode so follow instructions.
7.) Reinstall fresh copy of Avast! and reboot.
Be aware. Avast! will offer Chrome during installment. Remember to opt-out if you do not want it.
-
Okay. I'll try this in the next 24 hours or so and reply back.

After updating to 2015.10.2.2214, I receive 0x800CCC90 errors from Outlook Express, whenever I attempt to connect to the Verizon Mail Server. The problem occurs every time, and I have bypassed the problem by setting OFF the Avast Active Protection Mail Shield. Obviously, turning off the Mail Shield is not a preferred solution. This problem was not occurring for previous Avast versions. Any comments for a better solution?
I am using Outlook Express 6 with Windows XP SP3. Processor is AMD Sempron, which does not support SSE2 instructions.
The full error message is:

There are 2 different versions. One for your Computer and a separate version for your mobile device.
You need to purchase a different license for each OS.

HELP. I need app AVAST 64 bit for windows 8.1. HELP
The first post of this thread is where you'll find the Avast install files, there is no specific 64 bit version of Avast...the install files will work on 32 and 64 bit

Have updated to 10.2.2214 for a paid version of Internet Security. Now when I go to scan for viruses option all I get is Boot Time Scan (which will run straight away if selected not at Boot) - no option for Quick or Full Scan.
Anyone else have this issue ?
Thanks

I just updated to the new version of Avast! FREE. I have two questions.
1) I cannot find a "help" section anywhere. Is there one? If so, how do I get to it?
2) Is there a way to schedule a "Smart Scan"? I found the scheduling options for the other scans, but not for Smart Scan.

1) When in the AvastUI, navigate to the section you want help for, then click on the question mark in the upper right hand corner.

Hello everyone.
I updated my free Avast antivirus to its latest version on Tuesday and since then my computer (with windows vista home premium 32 bit service pack 2) has been consistently crashing with the infamous blue screen!
I don't notice any pattern except when I try to access the DVD RW Drive - then it always crashes!
It's too much of a coincidence that this started happening after the update...
My hard drive seems to be okay and I suspect that Avast screwed up some system files - unfortunately I can't use any restore point because after the first crash they all 'vanished' and so my hands are pretty much tied.
I have no idea what to do anymore - I ran the error-cheking tool and for the partition (I have 2 - one for data and another one for the OS) with the OS it showed the following message:
"The master file table's (MFT) BITMAP attribute is incorrect.
The volume Bitmap is incorrect.
Windows found problems with the file system.
Run CHKDSK with the /F (fix) option to correct these."
I ran the error-cheking for the OS partition with the option "Automatically fix file system errors", restarted the computer and nothing happened.
Also, when I right click on a file/folder and scan it, sometimes nothing happens and when it does the avast window that previously showed the progress of the scan is now blank and a small window appears in the lower right corner of the screen with the progress of the scan with question marks in it... is this normal?
Can anyone please help me out?
Thank you so much.

Hello to everyone. :D
I need your help. I use Avast Premier and i'm fully satisfied with it but something wrong happened when i upgraded it to release 150314-1 (program release 2015.10.0.2208). I use an home PC with windows 7 home premium installed but, from the upgrade to the a.m. release, i'm not able to connect to internet. I have checked the matter with my Internet Service Provider but nothing wrong emerged (i'm using internet now, with another PC, to send this post and all works well). From what we have seen, it seems AVAST Premier stops internet access because it seems Avast firewall do not consider valid the port (the same i'm using now from this PC) to access ISP system. Apart from this i'm experiencing two other problems: Avast Premier stalls if i open the main menu (from where you can check and set all the Premier features). The only way to go on with it is to restart the PC (you can't stop it even if your stop the related "windows service". The second problem is that is not possible to repair or disinstall the software because it stops the same way as the one i told on "problem one". It's possible that the file is damaged but the fact that i'm not able to connect internet, makes me impossible to correct the problem. One last information: the software is registered to my name with order number 15017580228 dated 19 October 2013.
Desperately waiting for your indications :'(.
Best regards to all of you at Avast and thank ypu for the high quality of our SW (1 proble in a 4 years span shows how good Avast is :D).

The New version shows it was successfully downloaded on my lap top yesterday but when I go to the statistic section in the menu it shows -0- updates in the past 24 hours---this is usually over a 100 on any given day. Am I protected????

Currently we all are facing a minor issue on the streaming updates and connections sometimes fails. It has to do with Avast servers. Probably they are doing some server maintenance and will take some time. We do get VPS updates.
Nothing to worry about. We are protected.
