Title: Can't install extensions

I have tried to install avast free on my mac but I can't get the safari extensions to install. I installed avast last night on my relatives mac and the extension installed but I can't get it to work on mine. Does anyone have any idea why it will not work. I have OS X 10.10.2

This is happening to me as well, however it's only Safari.   My guess is that the newer safari did something in a recent update.   

FireFox and Chrome both installed fine.   

FOR DUE DILLIGENCE, I have completely uninstalled Avast, then rebooted, reinstalled and rebooted again.   Same result.

I am a new user of free Avast v 10.9 on Mac with Yosemite.

My installation of Avast (today) did not result in any Avast extensions being added to Safari.

Are there meant to be Avast extensions added to Safari??

Could you please elaborate/explain.

I don't know why the Safari extension won't install automatically but it's possible to install it manually.
The file is here: /Library/Application Support/Avast/components/wrc/safari/wrc.safariextz
Just doubleclick on the 'wrc.safariextz' and let it install. Restart Safari and all looks fine.

Presumably if it were already installed it would show at Safari -> Preferences -> Extensions??

What does this extension do??

It just present what the webshield found and gives you the opportunity turn on or off some tracking cookies.
