Title: Safe Zone Browser
Post by: lilninjabullfrog on March 09, 2015, 11:10:50 AM
I've used Avast for a long time and have never gotten into any forums or things like that so I'm pretty green when it comes to that.
I've recently added Avast Internet Security, Virtual Private Network and Grime fighter to my Avast account. I've been utilizing all since I bought them and I would like to know a little bit more about the Safezone feature. I've been using it for my banking and similar services. It works sometimes and seems to be wreaking havoc on my router. Some times it will kick me off repetitively and even my other browsers outside of the Safezone act up or don't work like they should. Is Safezone meant for  all web browsing activities? Or is it only meant for banking and similar activities? This may sound like a dumb question but I don't know and would like to know

As far as I know ( :o) Safe Browser is basically a Chromium executed in a sandboxed environment (more or less like a Virtual Machine), thus I would say that you can use it for everything! Nevertheless you have limitations in saving content/files and also it comes without addons (I'm not sure if they can be added, I guess you can install them).  ... Personally, for everyday use I find it little frustrating cause your desktop is hidden and I believe that it does not add too much wrt an updated Firefox/Chrome etc. installation on a clean/updated machine with Avast installed... the only thing I see it the protection against keylogger, but again if you have AIS installed you should be keylogger free! ::)

What is the Avast SafeZone? What is the Avast Sandbox?

So you use the Avast SafeZone for your online banking and shopping, and the Avast Sandbox for your everyday browsing :)
