Title: Browser Cleanup (Avast free) fails run
Post by: REDACTED on March 29, 2015, 03:02:49 PM
1) :( Fails start with error 12029 "...cannot retrieve data..."

2)  :( Cannot find help in Avast forum beause my searches give far too many results + no option to  then search within them.  I cannot even find again a msg that I saw earlier suggesting disable "automatically send report to Avast" under options, which I cannot find in my Avast settings any way!

3) Only solution I've worked out so far is workaround: use standalone BCU instead, which does run.

The BCU forum is here:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=54.0

When posting, provide details like OS, SP, exact version of avast and such.

The same problem.
As StephenOn3rdRock wrote in ad2

I found nothing in BCU forumfor this.

Last record in Avast-Browser-Cleanup.log:
Error 12029 has occurred.
Server Warning:

My system:
Win7x64 SP1
Commodo Firewall
Avast 2015.10.2.2215

This happens even when the firewall is turned off.
Avast want to download some rules from internet but can't.

Hi,

I had the same problem, then I try to run BrowserCleanup.exe from installed folder "c:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\BrowserCleanup.exe"
with success, it works!
