Title: Need help - Mail and Web Protection is not working although activated

Hi,
I use Avast Mac Security 2015 (free) on my iMac with Mac OS X 10.8.5 and my mail and web protection is not working, although it is activated. I use Little snitch as well but haven't found any restrictions there.
Anyone any idea what I can do to make it work?

And you say it's not working because...? Please explain why you believe it's not working. I assume by activated you mean you get a big green checkmark, that says you are protected?
