In the current build (10049) SecureLine doesnt want to connect to any VPN.
Avast error message is 'Sorry, it is not possible to establish a connection'
Avast SecureLine TAP Adapter 3 is greyed out and disabled.
When I enable it, then try and reconnect to SecureLine, it fails the connection with the error message above, then greys out the TAP connection.
Will there be a fix for this via the program or shall I just wait and see with a new build of Windows 10?

Hi anarkii,
We are looking into this right away. Will post back when we have some specific and useful info to share.
Best regards,
Davidek

The issue was identified and we are working on a fix right now. Will post back with release/fix timing

Hi anarkii,
please try this:
- open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
- then press ctrl+f and serach for aswtap (should be located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\000X - where X stands for the instance of SecureLine adapter)
- crete new string value here (value name = ComponentId, value data = aswtap)
- enable SecureLine adapter and disable it again (when you are not connected to SecureLine, adapter should be disabled as default)
- try to connect to SecureLine
Hope it will help.
-
Hi HK.
Apologies it took so long to reply, but your fix worked great, thank you :)
-
Just wanted to bump this thread as you will need to do the registry editing still with todays release of Windows 10 - Build 10074 Insider Preview until a program fix is offered.
-
Hi,
I have W10 Build 10074 and the issue described above.
I checked the Registry and the ComponentId, value data = aswTap is already present.
When I try to start a connection the adapter is Enabled, Identifying... then back to Disabled, then the error message Sorry, it was not possible to establish a connection.
Tried a Repair of Avast but still not connecting.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Martin

Secure line seems to detect my current connection as insecure and keeps wanting to connect whenever I start up.
That same connection is recognized as a secure connection when I boot into the Windows 8.1 partition ???
-
Hey I had the same issue...the registry fix worked. buttt...Like one member said earlier ...that key was already there. I replaced the aswTap with aswtap...lowercase t and did the enable and disable then it worked. Thanks and hope this helps

try to replace the T with lowercase t...worked for me

Yes that's worked.
Many thanks,

Unfortunitly you need to do this fix (use lowercase aswtap) for todays build of 10122. Still no update from Avast that does it for you just yet.
-
annnd again with 10125 and todays build of 10130.

annnd again with 10125 and todays build of 10130.
And again with todays build of 10158.
For the mods/admin etc - will there be a program fix or update to Avast that will fix this in the RTM of Windows 10 and beyond? Being a simple Registry fix seems like it should be a very easy update to push out.
-
Apparently I no longer have the problem:

I got the same problem. I use build 10159.
I couldn't follow this solution as I have many :( \000X keys? and don't know which one is the right one!

Have you tried to simply do a repair of Avast (Programs and Features > Select Avast > Select Repair > When the process finishes, reboot your system.
That should take care of things. No need to reinstall Windows 10.
-
Build 10240 - used regedit as described above; all I had to do was change aswTab to aswtab and I was able to succcessfully connect.

Just to clarify as well, trying to resolve issues with Secureline by doing a repair of Avast Security software may well be the ticket, however there is the "Stand alone" version of Secureline that may be installed without the use or installation of Avast software and thus a "repair" doesn't apply . :)
edit:
To add, the HP ENVY I purchased couple of months back came with Secureline (standalone) PreInstalled with a trial period of 30 days
-
I tried the regedit fix, as well. It worked for me.
-
I've upgraded to Windows 10 64 BIT yesterday and my Secureline Installation was not affected and continues to function as expected.
-
I update my windows 8.1 to windows 10, terrible mistake, the secure line vpn does not work. I try do the changes on regedit but sill not workink

What error messages are you getting ?
Have you tried a repair of Avast ?
How did you install SecureLine ??? Through Avast or as a separate install ???
Working fine here without any problems on Windows 10 Pro.

I also upgraded to W10 and run Secureline (Stand alone) and have not experienced any difficulties.
In addition to previous suggestions, you could also try "uninstalling" Secureline and then reinstall now that you are on W10
Good luck :)

Programs and features > select Avast > select repair.
When the operation finishes, reboot your system.
See if that does the trick.

Change it to aswtap as instructed and reboot

Change it to aswtap as instructed and reboot
You dont need to reboot after changing it to all lowercase aswtap. Just change it, close registry, and connect, it will work fine.

Hi - I tried the guide to fix it - but when I try to add a string value I get an error
'Cannot create value:error writing to registry'
Any ideas? Avast wanted me to pay £70 to fix it - help!
Thanks

Hi, Sorry to bring up an old post but I'm experiencing this issue where Secureline says 'Sorry, it is not possible to establish a connection'. I have tried the regedit steps in https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=169002.msg1202646#msg1202646, but I can't seem to get it working.
I am new to this product and I have only just installed it today. It's never worked and I'm all out of ideas!
Thanks for any help!

Hi Bob3160,
Thanks for picking up my post but I've now got it sorted! :D Turns out I was trying to use Standalone Secureline rather than the integrated Secureline within the Internet Security package. It now works perfectly thanks!

So just because I'm curious, is it the "Standalone" version you are using while also using AIS?

Hi Schmidthouse,
The version of Secureline I am successfully using is within the Internet Security Package. The one I was not able to successfully run was downloaded from https://www.avast.com/en-gb/secureline-vpn#pc
Edit: I think I just realised you were asking were both AIS and the Standalone Secureline running at the same time. I was trying to run both AIS and the Secureline downloaded from https://www.avast.com/en-gb/secureline-vpn#pc.

I've done the registry edit to no avail.. Any suggestions?
-
I have done the registry fix also and still not working :(
-
@ j3nnifer and Skjalg Andre,
applying ould suggested registry fixes aren't a smart thing to do.
Those fixes were meant to fix an at that moment problem.
Applying old fixes probably do more harm than good.
If you're having a problem, start your own topic and describe the exact problem so it can be fixed. :)
-
I have the latest insider build of Windows 10 (codenamed Anniversary Edition) and from a clean install, Secureline will connect no problem with no registry editing.
If you have problems all I can suggest is reverting back to the original registry settings before my original post and seeing if that makes a difference.

Hi I have a problem that when I connect to Secureline I am unable to send emails. I can receive but not send
Can anybody assist me??
