Title: Defender update showing after upgrading to 2015.10.2.2215
Post by: wooly1 on April 04, 2015, 02:08:52 PM
I have two identical win 8.1 PC's running Avast Free and updated both to 2015.10.2.2215
Very soon after the update, which went through with no problems at all, both PC's showed a Windows Update to the Defender Service KB2267602 was available.
As I have had Avast installed on both PC's since they were built it seems a bit odd that Windows would want to update Windows Defender which is switched off anyway.
Anyone have any thought on this or have noticed similar ?

Thanks all.

This is a problem some have with windows 8 (not all)

If you uninstall Avast -  do a manual update on the Defender updates - then reinstall Avast the update should go in.

(apparantly MS is updating some part of the  defender program even though it is not being used)

It doesn't mather if Windows Defender is disabled or not.
Microsoft update sees that it is installed and will try to get the latest update(s) for it.
