Title: Updating overriding prior custom installs. Is this bug fixed?
Post by: Vladimyr on April 07, 2015, 01:42:26 PM
Having already had to uninstall/reinstall on 2 machines after in-GUI updates to 10.0.2.2215 resulted in installation of incompatible and therefore previously unchecked and not-installed components - just wondering if it's now safe to do so? Otherwise I'll just stick with 10.0.2.2214 and avoid the hassle.

On some systems the update is working without a problem, on others it is not.
It is always best to do a clean installation.

Eddy. I believe you mean to be helpful but at the same time time, I don't think you realize how a comment like the one you have just made might be seen to be somewhat inane.

Good service starts with understanding the question, not telling a customer that a workaround is possible.

My question isn't about whether or not a clean install is effective. It's about whether the inbuilt in-place update facility is or is not working properly.

Apparently not. Previously unchecked "NG" has crashed the party, disguised as "Secure Virtual Machines".  ???

As I said. On some systems it is working fine, on others it is not.
Those who encounter no problem would say it is working properly, the others would say it doesn't.
Me?
Looking at how many people have problems with the update, I say:
No it is not working properly or at least not as it should.

I had a problem after updating to the current version.
It retained all my settings but there were other problems that a clean install fixed.
