Over the top installation.Everything looks good.
Didn't see Skype offer during installation.
Thanks.

Edit :
After this update and reboot, I lost all restore points including one created by Avast.
I don't know if this is connected with Secure Virtual Machines or something.

Update from the UI of 10.20.2217, appears to be running fine. I wasn't offered Skype in the previous beta or this regular release.

I had a weird issue after I installed this update and the last. After I had a Blue Screen (unsure if related to Avast), I couldn't get past the Windows Logo screen. According to a diagnostics screen, my boot sector got corrupted.

That has to do with Avast's NG service still. :/ Does it use VirtualBox's old version or something?

Just letting you know, I installed this update successfully via Avast GUI from the previous version and the same issue still arises in this new version. From the previous version, I still have this support ticket number still open and I am still receiving support from avast support.

The bug is named Avast Account Bug in Avast GUI. Ticket number is #BYU-790-31187.

Thanks.

it's online installer so you will get always the latest version. CNET just didn't updated the listing yet.

Updated to this latest version via Avast GUI . Just installed all, regardless of what components I had already didn't have installed.

After install had to go into Add/Remove and click on avast, go to Change then untick what components i didn't want install.
So I guess in future to keep what i want i will have to do a clean install.

Bug Report: Windows XP Email Scanning dont work
When 10.2.2218.942 after the avastclear-procedure be installed, then the Email-Shield do not work.
The shield is not off, but the email accounts are to fast scanned  - when the mail shield works it need more very much more time and in the statistics you can see that no email be scanned.

What is the new free hard disk space requirement to install? The old requirements state 2GB on the Avast FAQ, (which I just happen to have exactly 2GB left), and it is complaining that it is not enough, but does not state how much is needed in the installer. It only states how much I have free.

(For future versions, I'd recommend putting the needed space amount in the installer, possibly in smaller text below on the same screen)

It would be nice to do update but I have tried tried twice and it crashes my internet access. Something about the DNS setup. I can go back to the restore point and everything works again.

I am using the Avast update system. What do I need to do or send to try to get past this problem?

Which makes spotting it hard and something that the average user will totally miss.
Guess we'll get to hear about it here on the forum.  :(

Not that hard if you do not suffer from the click, click syndrome, but yes, we will be hearing about it, and not only that but about Skype too.

No Bob, I do not need unchecky. I do make custom installs and read every window the installer opens, but I recommend it in the Spanish forum to the average user to avoid those nasty gifts which come grapped in free software people usually download from the web.

Thanks for remind me though.

I see that some other respondents have successfully installed version 2015.10.2.2218 on Windows XP SP3.   I am sorry to say that I have had to revert to version 2015.10.2.2215 because the system would not respond after installation and hanged after logging on at restart.  I ran avastclear.exe in safe mode and did a clean install of version 2015.10.2.2218 but to no avail.  Reverted to previous version by repeating avastclear.exe and cleanly installed version 2015.10.2.2215  without trouble.

No problems with over-install via the UI (Win 7 x64).  I did get the Chrome opt-out screen after rebooting, but I'm used to that.  Nothing seen relating to Skype, although one of the staff did point out that's only on fresh installs.

Installed ok and works ok on latest official W10 TP release (10061).
The speed of loading multiple web pages in tabs is a little slower than 2 competitor products, something that I guess may be improved by Avast in future versions.

is this version more sensitive? i noticed it's suddenly scanning a lot more files than it did before (every time I start up task manager, for example, it scans that, never did that before)

Like, EVERYTHING appears in the statistics now. When I scheduled a boot time scan, bcdedit.exe pops up, every time a taskeng starts I see it and what it's doing in there, every time I open a picture dllhost.exe pops up in there,  etc

Will this slow my performance?

What firewall are you using ??? Is Avast allowed access through your firewall ???
New update, new permission is needed for the new version.

You too should answer the question Bob3160 asked of air3bwm that you quoted.

The fact that utorrent works rather than normal browsing would tend to indicate that it is the web shield actions that are being blocked.

I am using Windows Firewall and Avast is allowed through.  So are my browser(s).  It seems nothing is getting through with shields enabled.  What new permissions are needed.  I have never had to add permissions for an Avast upgrade.

I am using Windows Firewall and Avast is allowed through.  So are my browser(s).  It seems nothing is getting through with shields enabled.  What new permissions are needed.  I have never had to add permissions for an Avast upgrade.
I"m not sure if turning the firewall off, rebooting and then turning the firewall back on will clear the blockage. (Worth a try.)
If that doesn't work, you may need to d a clean install of Avast.

I just wanted to ask would it be possible to update my existing Avast Free installation (2015.10.2.2214) by running the online installer posted by MartinZ (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_online.exe)?

The reason for doing this is that I can uncheck the stuff that I don't want installed like NG, Browser Protection etc. If I update through GUI this stuff get installed and then I have to remove them manually, one by one, through Control Panel.

Hello, I'm new to this forum, but not new to Avast. Been using it for at least a year with no issues.

Reason I'm on the forum is I've now got an issue since performing the Avast in-program update to this version.

Issue: the Avast antivirus service attempts to start upon bootup but gets an error. When I attempt to start it manually via services.msc, gets the same error. When attempting to access the AvastUI interface, get the same error. Accessing Avast via the Control Panel gets the same error for a different program (installer I'm guessing).

Error: AvastUI.exe applcation error      "The instruction at 0x77020217 referenced memory at 0x669dce0d. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program."

Conditions: running Windows 8.0 - 64 bit (version 6.2 - build 9200), patched to current level for April 2015. No other firewall or antivirus products installed, Windows firewall is disabled.

Any assistance that could be offered would be appreciated. I've been happy with Avast and would like to have it running again.

Thanks!

I prefer to use an offline installer with my network interface disabled.  This version fails the install when it is unable to send statistics at the end of the installation process.

Hi borazon. Welcome to the forums.

For the time being just try a repair:

Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > uninstall a program > select avast! and click " Uninstall/Change ". Highlight " Repair " and then "Continue". Reboot when finished.

If it does not fix your problem, open a new topic for further instructions.

Good Luck.

I had a weird issue after I installed this update and the last. After I had a Blue Screen (unsure if related to Avast), I couldn't get past the Windows Logo screen. According to a diagnostics screen, my boot sector got corrupted.

I updated yesterday running Windows 10 build 10061 and got a bluescreen too: inaccessible_boot_device. Cost me some valuable time. After restoring from the avast restore point, I was able to boot into Windows again.

This is quite ironic too, seeing as the in-program changelog mentions compatibility with Windows 10 ;D

FWIW, I noticed my downloads from sites like Dropbox and Amazon slowing to a virtual halt after the upgrade.  I removed AVAST all together and the problem went away.  I've switched to Panda Free for now as a result.  I really liked AVAST, but didn't know how to "fix" the problem that was obviously created by the upgrade somehow.

Just wanted to pass this along.  Thanks!

Just did the update today, and had the problem where I was *NOT* offered the option to bypass Google Chrome-- after the reboot, Windows popped up a message saying I had installed a new program that could handle webpages, and lo and behold, Chrome 42 had been installed automatically without my permission. (the normal Avast screen didn't come up at all)

Not cool, Avast. Seems like this bug appears and disappears sort of randomly, but the code should NOT somehow default to "install" if the user is not presented the option. (and no, I didn't "click click click" blindly, I know Avast tries to install it every time, and every time I tell it no)

It's an older PC running Windows 8.1 x64, just windows firewall (nothing else would be blocking web access if needed, etc)...

Now I get to try to remove the pointless Google software updater. Just how I wanted to spend my afternoon.

I have been a long-time user and loyal advocate of Avast! AVS (since 2005), and have adamantly shared the virtues of your services with countless friends, family, and co-workers across two continents. I was always impressed with how much came in such a small - and free - package.

In December 2013, I decided to give myself a Christmas present and bought the Premier subscription.

So far, I have been less than impressed.

The program itself is system-heavy, and the services bloat - and often freeze - my processors. The number of false positives has increased significantly, even sending out repeated alerts on files I have already defined as safe. The engine has progressively become slower to boot with each "new and improved" update.

And now, with this latest version, the program is constantly announcing my system firewall has not started, even though all verifications have shown it to be running smoothly. I have rebooted my computer, and I have turned my firewall off and on again, so the old IT chestnuts are not the issue.

I have a subscription to another vendor's full-service maintenance app, which includes an optional AVS, but I have kept that service from running to avoid definition conflicts, since I still have another 8 months in this Avast! subscription year (had planned to cancel Avast! before it renewed, but missed the date).

The other AVS comes highly rated, and with these increasing issues I am close to just cutting my losses with Avast! and cancelling mid-term. I considered just reverting back to Avast! free, but I am already paying for the other vendor, so common sense prevails.

Thank you, ALWIL and Avast!, for many years of excellent free coverage. Sorry your value for cash isn't as fine.

Can you tell us what OS your using ???

I installed this latest free version in Windows 10 build 10061. I unchecked Chrome and then chose custom install. I only installed the 3 shields, the browser protection, and the Home Network Security. I unchecked everything else. It's running fine except for one issue. The mail scanning does not seem to work with the Mail and Calendar app. In the statistics it always shows no activity for the mail scanner even though when I send something, the icon spins and the message about being scanned gets inserted into the mail. When retrieving mail, the icon doesn't even spin.

The same thing happens using Outlook 2007.

You can usually fix the firewall bug reinstalling over with same version and rebooting, or, going to services and full restart avast, avast firewall. As for the slow down, ive never ever seen anything like that on my pc, ive been using avast premier for years, only problems i ever come across are removing avast issues as it sometimes breaks all the miniports, plus avast not working after system restores, which you cannot blame avast for, its microsofts crappy restore program, that restores old files and merges them instead of removing the complete thing and restoring that application.
Also its defo not system heavy, by far its one of the lightest full security suits on the market.

Seems you must have a typo in the configuration requirements,   CPU speed condition failed, required: 100000Mhz detected: 3700Mhz.
error: CmdAvastInstallWrapper failed, error: 0x00000422, no one runs a cpu at that frequency, wtf avast? Would be nice to get a response from avast, is this deliberate so it doesn't install?, is it typo?, is it a corrupt os or installation? Is it happenening to anyone else? Also makes you wonder if im secure or not.

I don't know if they have updated the requirements, but previously they were too darn low even my lame duck win7 32bit netbook passed the requirement and was installed, crazy.

Acer Aspire One, Win7 Starter (32bit) 10.1", 1024X600 screen, 2GB DDR3 RAM, Intel Atom N255 (1.5GHz dual core) CPU and 250GB HDD.

Looks like they may have gone to the other stream, but that would be a guess.

It seems that it's some kind of virtualization thing and I think hardware virtualization is disabled on my system by default.

Speccy says that virtualization is supported and enabled for my CPU but the Motherboard BIOS setting is on disabled.

Luckily, I didn't try clean installation of Avast, I just unchecked SVM in Avast settings.

I would say that you got the better side of avast support, through the support forums, always quick, made up mostly of experienced avast users, not just 3rd party support staff on telephone support. Support tickets can be sluggish depending on the priority.

I believe that file is blocked by Google Safebrowsing, so I downloaded it with Pale Moon (no Google Safebrowsing).

Right now only 'AvastVBoxSVC.exe' is running on my current system (W7 ultimate SP1). Seems so, that they are working on fixing issues.

Hello,
after upgrade to this version (updated yesterday) my computer is very slow. Firstly the first sturtup took on a ssd a very long time (especially log in), now it takes very long to run explorer.exe. Opening appliactions takes a long time as well, when I open a video file in windows explorer, it takes 15 seconds to open in a video player (even when a video player is running). When I turn off Avast everything is OK.

Windows 8.1 64bit (Version6.3.9600.17736 (Win8.1 RTM))

I wish avast implement a  timer for ‘Show popup offers for other Avast products‘ in avast free, or to be default setup at 5 sec, because it is annoying to have a popup that stay for ever until you click the "X". I know is free and no need to complain about it but I don't think the intrusive way is the key. And that google chrome ads is freaking annoying (very big and very useless IMHO) If I have Firefox witch is way more secure then this crap why you suggest such a thing(from the last reports Google Chrome isn't that secure) .

In this version, Avast splits it's load. Some items load early and others are held back and load later to speed
up overall system boot.

This caused my email client to fail with "corrupt SSL certificate" on sending mail.
I am still using Eudora, and the "accept certificate" procedure also failed, so it took a while to find the solution.

Secondly, on WinXP, the reboot after updating hangs up, apparently the avast update .exe never finishes,
but thankfully a second reboot has worked ok.

You may need to recreate your self, now this is easy for me as I added the system variable for ngtool, if you do the same it will be easier, untick protection module, open a command prompt with admin rights in the same folder as ngtool, now delete all of the system restore points, and create a new system checkpoint/restore, goto programdata, avast software/avast/ng, delete anything inside, go back to command prompt, just to be sure type, ngtool  delete-ng all or -all(cant remember), now ngtool avast uninstall, this will remove all ng services, now type ngtool avast install, this will install a new ng machine, after this type ngtool avast repair(not needed tbh, its new creation)

turn off protection module and open a cmd prompt with admin rights in same folder as ngtool, type ngtool avast install, if not supported it tell you required cpu speed

HELP.....seems I'm having similar problems as some other users.

My platform is a Dell Vostro 420 desktop 3GB ram 2 Quad CPU
XP Pro SP 3

Updated to latest  version (2015.10.2.2218) and problems began. Slow and incomplete boot into windows. Many times it would paint the screen with all icons and then halt. Could not get any response.....mouse would move the arrow but no programs would respond when selected......even task manager would not come up.

Did a hard reboot many times. Similar response.
Eventually booted in safe mode and uninstalled the Avast program.

Downloaded and installed 10.2.2215 and all is back to working.

Have a Dell laptop running XP Pro SP 3 with similar problems.....but it will eventually come up running if rebooted and allowed a very long time (15-20 minutes) to get the Avast icon in the tray. WOW.....all programs respond VERY slowly until that happens.

HELP

@ Joe96

I also have Avast installed on Dell Laptop. My system has limited Ram (less then 3GB, which is not a lot) so I've had to be careful just what I install from the Avast installation options otherwise the software can be very resource demanding with only 2GB or 3GB of RAM
I always choose "custom install" which shows all the 'extra' tools installed along side of the Antivirus.
If you didn't choose custom install I suggest you go to Control Panel/Programs/Add and Remove/Avast Click Change. When Install Panel appears scroll and Select "Change" and review all the options in the "Tools"(middle) column.
Uncheck anything that you don't want or don't know what it does. :)

I have started Steam and run a game. Since than - about an hour - aswfe.exe is grabbing 50% of my 2-core cpu. I've read some threads talking about 8 hours and longer. I don't have a sandbox in Avast Free. So why do I need this?

Is there a bug somewhere?
My overview says all Shields active and everything up to date...
However, I'm getting an Avast popup that tells me my virus definitions and program is out of date.
When I click to update it opens the Update section, tries to download and says everything is already up to date
Engine and definitions: 150421-1
Program: 2015.10.2.2215

Any ideas?

Hi jaydeeinchina.

If it is really Program: 2015.10.2.2215 and not a typo, you are one program version behind. It should say 2218 like the topic title. So you should upgrade that version.

1. ) Download your Avast : http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
                                           http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
                                           http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
                                           http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe
2. ) Download avastclear.exe (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe)

3. ) Execute avastclear

4. ) Reinstall Avast.

If you have the correct version do a repair.

Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > uninstall a program > select avast! and click " Uninstall/Change ". Highlight " Repair ". Click Continue.

Reboot when finished.

Hello foxTAH,

in short answer, yes, it's normal.

avastvboxsvc.exe is a part of new Avast DeepScreen - named Avast NG.
Avast NG analyzes unknown files in safe virtual environment to determine the file is malicious or not.

That means avastvboxsvc.exe is proteced by self-defense module, thus you cannot shut it down via task manager.

I originally posted this comment on April 23, 2015.  It read as follows:-
"I see that some other respondents have successfully installed version 2015.10.2.2218 on Windows XP SP3.   I am sorry to say that I have had to revert to version 2015.10.2.2215 because the system would not respond after installation and hanged after logging on at restart.  I ran avastclear.exe in safe mode and did a clean install of version 2015.10.2.2218 but to no avail.  Reverted to previous version by repeating avastclear.exe and cleanly installed version 2015.10.2.2215  without trouble."

I have since had similar problems with another old PC.  The two systems that I have been unable to use Avast antivirus 2015 R2SP2 (2015.10.2.2218) on are a Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop and an Acer TravelMate 220 laptop.  Both of these run Windows XP SP3 and both lack the SSE2 instruction capability.

Both laptops run Avast antivirus 2015.10.2.2215 without problems.

It would be useful for us users of pre-historic hardware to know what restrictions apply to using current Avast versions on PCs which date back into the mists of antiquity.

After a crash, I just reinstalled my OS: Win XP64, sp2.  In addition to reinstalling other software, I also donwloaded the most recent Free Anti Virus (as of May 23, 2015), and attempted to install.  Progress bar got all the way across, then hung (forever; tried 3 times).  The destination directory appeared full, but the desktop icon was placed, but empty.  "Computer Admin | add/remove programs didn't show avast. Cntr-Alt-Del couldn't kill the installation.

The only way out was to reboot.  But this caused even worse problem:  it trashed my video driver (NVIDIO, gfx660Ti; three times reproducibly!), requiring either reinstallation of video driver in "safe mode" or restoring boot drive from back-up image.

I'm not keen on trying again, until someone has some really convincing ideas on how to circumvent the problem.

Thnaks for any help,
Bob W.

@ Robert374,

Welcome to the forums,

Suggest running sfc /scannow, allow it to complete and see what results.
Also suggest ensuring your hard drive is in good condition:
http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/item/seatools-win-master/ (http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/item/seatools-win-master/)
http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=810&sid=3&lang=en (http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=810&sid=3&lang=en)
http://www.hgst.com/support/downloads (http://www.hgst.com/support/downloads)
Since no mention of model/make of hard drive was made in your original post, above is provided for use.  Original system crash likely not related to your current issues with installing avast!, but possibly caused by undetected issues with your hard drive, so you'll need to ensure your hard drive is in good working condition; if you find bad sectors, then consider replacing the hard drive before complete failure occurs, especially if it is old or original.

Always check hardware, particularly when issues arise in installing new software.  If you do these steps, at the very least you will know either the hdd is good, or will have found the root source of your installation issues when you are done.

It was the Free version.  The target PCs are both 12 year-old laptops with Intel Celeron or Pentium 4 processors.  These lack the SSE2 instructions.  Since such machines are probably little used, this is probably why I am the only user here to report this difficulty.  Avast Free version 2015.10.2.2215 works quickly and well.  I used the same procedures to install 2215 and 2218 so there seems to be a change from 2215 to 2218 which does not adversely affect more recent hardware than that which I am using.

I have seen no messages about illegal instructions.  The systems each just hang at restart following installation and are completely unresponsive.

Are you also from Kent, HDW38?  I noticed the Invicta horse.

I have this installed on 5 different computers( Free Version), and since yesterday I have been continually notified that it requires updating, but when agreeing to this the update gives an error relating to an invalid file signature, and then claims already up to date.

Hello and welcome to the Forum! :)

You could try a repair of Avast:
1. Control Panel -> Programs & Features -> avast!
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Would be what I would expect to do if only on one pc, but as it is happening an about 5, all different, all set up differently, this leads me to suspect some error at the Avast server?

Hi, I would be interested to see your log files (C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Persistent Data\Avast\Logs). Can you send them to me or use our support tool and let me know its id?

After updating to this version I can no longer print from my SQL database program using a local usb printer or network IP printer. I have 2 computers using the free version and the problem is the same on both. The fix is to disable the shields. While disabled I can print normally. All windows programs print fine, just not from the SQL program sold by Activant software, they have no clue or advice on this matter.
When the file shields are enabled this message shows up in the event viewer:
"An exception occurred in Crystallintegration (mscorlib): The path is not of a legal form"
It goes on to list the program name and directory, this directory is in my exclude list as well as the form directory which is not called in this event err. My guess is Crystal reports is trying to write a temporary file somewhere and Avast is stopping it from writing. With the shields disabled the print job goes and does not trigger this err msg.
I have seen on other forums where this has been an issue and was cured by going back to 10.2.2215, where can I download that version.

@ richarmorr,

Try this link:  http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus (http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus)

[Note:  If you are not running ad-blocking software in your browser, there may be more than one download link on the page.  Hover mouse over the link(s) to find the correct direct download link by looking down at the lower left corner of your browser.]

Save old versions just in case you need them later.   ;)

Further to my posts about the problem with Windows XP and Avast antivirus 2015 R2SP2 (2015.10.2.2218), I tried to install it on another older computer, this time with an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ processor.  This lacks the SSE2 instructions like the old laptops which I had previously tried to install Avast antivirus 2015 R2SP2 (2015.10.2.2218) on.  This circumstantial evidence has convinced me that Avast techs may have assumed that all their users now employ 64-bit hardware and so, perhaps unintentionally, have prevented users of computers with 32-bit processors from running Avast.

Before resorting to AVG 2015, I took a copy of the Logs folder in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avast.  Could someone at Avast please tell me if they would like me to forward it to them.

I am also running Avast 2015 R2SP2 (2015.10.2.2218) on a machine with Win XP Pro_86 Spk 3 with no problems whatsoever. That is a 9 years old work horse.

A definition of a computer with a 32-bit ONLY processor:
If you CANNOT install and run the latest version of Google Chrome (currently version 43) then the processor is ONLY 32-bit capable.  It appears to me that Avast antivirus 2015 R2SP2 (2015.10.2.2218) has a problem with such processors.

I believe that there is an unrealised difference between Avast antivirus 2015 R2SP2 (2015.10.2.2218) and the previous version of Avast which makes the difference between the previous version running and the current version not running.  This has happened on three incarnations of Windows XP SP3.

I have to admit some confusion over the meaning of SSE2.  I now realise that SSE2 instructions have nothing to do with 64-bit capability.

Regarding the logs, I am uncertain if drake127 was addressing me.  In any case, I will send the logs as drake127 suggests.

@hake

Are you really sure, that you're wright with everthing you wrote in this thread???
I hope that you see in my screenshot, that there are other facts, which causes your problem.
There is only 'SSE', no XP, running 'avast! Free 2015.10.2.2218' with W7 (fine as on my 2 XP machines).

Hello, thanks for the respond. I tried to do the repair and rebooted the computer. I got the same response, the function will start after reboot, made a new reboot, got same massage, it will start after reboot. It must be something wrong. The avast seems to work as usual.

Bonjour,

Hello,
for some time after an update avast my PC takes almost over 20s to start and when I go on the internet, my pages are longer to open.

It became difficult.

And when I uninstall Avast, it also restarts quickly and Internet is significantly faster.

How come?

I'll have a good idea for VPN is Secureline last active so I feel that it is he who delay me web pages and starting the PC!

Besides, I am not used to Secureline, why do not we have an option to turn it off once and for all?

In short, I think soon stop Avast because seeing my PC slowed since additions as VPN Secureline etc, it fills me.

Hi Benjamin60, welcome to the forum :)

You can simply uninstall Avast! modules you don't want to use :

1) Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Avast! - Change.
2) Change.
3) Uncheck what you want to uninstall.
4) Continue.
5) Reboot.

I love you Rednose. ^ _ ^
I knew we could not change it without uninstalling all, thank you.

( Je t'aime Rednose. ^_^
Je savais pas qu'on pouvait le modifier sans désinstaller tout, merci. )

Hi, I updated yesterday to this version (2015.10.2.2218). It maybe a coincidence BUT now I I am unable to send emails from MS Outlook 2010. After having a look online at some potentials issues I have checked the in/out ports (In - 995; out - I changed to 587 from 25 but no difference). Any suggestions?
Cheers .......

Have continued to investigate to no avail. Outlook 2010 is still allowing me to send but not receive emails and is giving me this error message:
Task '<my email address> - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC67) : '  The server responded: 421 Cannot establish SSL with SMTP server 61.9.168.249:465, SSL_connect error 5:10054'
When I turn Avast off, my sent box empties so it is definitely something to do with Avast.
Once again, any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

please turn on Avast, then go to Settings->Active protection->Mail Shield->Customize->SSL Scanning and uncheck the Settings. If this doesn't help, then please try to disable the Mail Shield completely.
The we will look for furhter solution.

Note user in this topic did not get his program copies from avast web site; and avast does not support his versions either because of that, but he has same issues as you.  Suggest starting a new topic about your issues rather than posting it here as it will be lost in this thread.

You will get the help you need to resolve your issue if you do so.
