Title: Avast! Online Security
Post by: cbino on April 22, 2015, 11:27:37 AM
Hi,
I have not found in the forum answers to a problem that should be of many users of the latest versions of Avast Antivirus -versioni is free, the one I used in the past, that pro v. 10.2.2215.880, the one I use now -
The icon of Avast! Online Security, although the active component does not appear again, a long time ago, in the command bar of Internet Explorer, v. 11 (it is the one I use) or icon appears next to the component of the link when searching, for example with google, internet.
My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
The problem does not arise with Mozilla Firefox and Chrome.
I hope someone enlighten me. I can not think that all users are devotees Avast users only Firefox and Chrome!
thanks
P.S.
Updated about an hour ago, the version 10.2.2218.942 the problem of Avast! Online Security remains on IE.
I begin to think of a serious incompatibility.
Disattiverò the add-in will install WOT and Avast!

Hi cbino :)

I am not sure of I understand your problem, but if Avast! Online Security doesn't work as expected try this :

1) Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Avast! - Change.
2) Change.
3) Uncheck "Browser protection" to uninstall it.
4) Continue.
5) Reboot.

And now the same steps again, but in step 3 you check "Browser protection" to install it again.

Hello Nano Red,
I followed the steps and tried other ways but without solving!
I am convinced that the problem affects all users who use Internet Explorer Avast 11-
Probably in many surf the Internet with Firefox or Chrome and therefore did not detect the anomaly that is quite clear.
Who has the ability to use IE 11 should only try and can not but take note of the problem!
Anyway thanks

If you go to tools on the IE bar and select manage add ons is Avast enabled ?

I've the same problem on two computer: one with seven 32bit and the other at 64bit, all IE 11.
The plugin in the addon manager is enabled. But it isn't shown in the bar and during a search no checkmark are visible.
I've also tried the rednose trick without success.
Also tried the new version but there is still the problem
Tried also to deactivate protected mode.

EDIT
No problem on XP and IE8.

Next other users of avast!
I am increasingly convinced that no icon Avast! Online Security will be displayed in the command bar and in the search results of IE 11!

Hello to all

Now that I understand the problem ( No green "blob" in IE 11 ) I noticed that I have the same problem in my "virgin" IE 11 ( I never use it ).
So I uninstalled the Avast browser addon, as described earlier, reset IE 11 with the Microsoft Fixit tool for it, and installed - and accepted the addon again.
But still no luck. It doesn't matter if you have the addon enabled or not.

There is definitely a problem, and I don't know how to solve it. I will put this forward.

This appears to be a random problem, some IE11 systems are affected.  However, I have no problems with mine

Maybe it's due to the different version of IE11 on different operating system?
It's seems that all the problems, until now, are on IE11 on windows seven

I have the problem on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Build 10061
The ad-on is active but doesn't display and no ratings in a search.

I don't beleve in random problems.

It is a bug, a conflict, or something else. I want to find out, and I am going to do my best to find out :)

Agreed.

Don't use IE 11 for anything but as a reserve browser just in case.  AOS does not work on two separate Win 7 64-bit systems, and appears as a grey dimmed-out icon.  In both systems, AOS is enabled, but will not accept setting changes or actively appear to run.

One of a few minor details not working as they should in AIS 2015.  Main core is fine and stable, and is always installed as a clean install, never updated through the GUI.

I see that finally there is convingendo that the problem exists, it is not random, at least in the operating systems Win 7 64-bit, and that these are most likely a bug.
We expect the solution!

About the reported problem, I installed the free version of Avast antivirus on another my PC with Windows XP SP3 and Internet Explorer 8. I noticed that Avast, with a few tweaks to the settings, performs very well on this operating system, and that , as I imagined, Avast! Online Security is active on IE 8 and it works wonders.
I strongly hope that with the next version of Avast the problem in IE 11 is resolved.
I say this because the much-vaunted Google Chrome (I use sometimes as Firefox) seems to have become a complex machine which not only weigh a lot, it takes 15 to 25 seconds just to open the home page even when set to "New card ". In comparison, with the home page "Google", IE 11 is very fast and is very fast also in navigation.
We also appreciate sometimes the Microsoft products!

1 year later, now in April 2016, with Avast Version 11.2.2262 there's still the same old problem:

No Icon in IE11, nowhere and no (green) checkmarks next to the search results in IE11. The addon is enabled of course.

Come on Avast developers. Isn't it possible to finally resolve this issue?

It has been stated in one of the other threads that IOS was dropped for IE.

So, if this is true, the legitimate question here of course is why the setup of the current Avast version still installs this add-on??

Becuae you can still use it on Firefox and Chrome.

As far as I know extensions for Firefox and Chrome are something else than an IE Add-on. Those are different pieces of software, I believe.

Therefore the inclusion of the "dropped" IE Add-on should be simply removed from the setup. This non funcional add-on only causes confusion among users.

But maybe I'm wrong.
