Title: No more ROOT installation?
Post by: REDACTED on April 24, 2015, 03:27:10 PM
I am setting up a new tablet and when I select Install Anti-Theft it takes me directly to the Play Store.  Is the option to install as ROOT no longer available? If this is the case, it basically renders the app useless.

I know how it is SUPPOSED to work.  I have 60+ tablets that I have set up for my company.  You have missed the point.

 The option to install as root is no longer available in the menu after the update I installed today.  When I tap on the Anti-Theft (install) link, I am taken to Google Play Store.  I no longer get the option to install as ROOT.

This sounds to me you have the standard anti-theft and not the one for rooted devices.
You will need to download ofcourse the version for rooted phones from the store.

Again, this is not the case.  I have installed this so many times I could do it in my sleep.

When I tap on the link to install Anti-Theft, the menu with the options to install normally or rooted DOES NOT APPEAR. The link takes you directly to the Google Play Store.

Fortunately, I have an image without the latest Avast update so I loaded it on the tablet.  I could then install as root as I have done countless times before. AFTER I completed the install I installed the most current update.

This is an issue with the latest release.  The option to install as root is not present. You are taken directly to Google Play Store to download the standard AT app.

I've just tested it and it working fine on one of my tablets.

I suggest you create a support ticket.

@Aesa
Probably it's not your case, but one never knows: Have you double-checked your device is still rooted?
Sometimes Android devices can be unrooted, even accidentally.

Definitely rooted.

Just tried this on yet another device and get the same result.  Goes directly to Google Play instead of asking me whether I want a standard install or root install.
