Title: File shield using a lot of CPU
Post by: REDACTED on April 28, 2015, 06:02:14 PM
I have several Windows 7 systems that I notice the process avastsvc.exe is using about 25-30% of the CPU when the file shield is active. This is affecting all other programs and causing them to lock up when opening or saving files. If I disable file shield avastsvc.exe drops to below 5% CPU load and the computer performance improves drastically. Has anyone else seen this? I see several posts for the free product that had the same issue and it was resolved by upgrading the software, but I am already running the latest version 8.0.1603. I have adjusted the heuristics and the sensitivity, but neither had an affect on the CPU load. Let me know if you have any ideas to troubleshoot this problem before the users burn me at the stake.

This thread appears to have a few different fixes that have worked for some:

You say it is only happening on several Windows 7 machines...do these machines have anything in common that working machines don't have? Software? Service packs?
This appears to be an ongoing problem with multiple versions that some can get fixed and others cannot. I've deployed on ~3000 machines so far and haven't seen this problem yet (knock on wood)

Keep us updated with any progress.
