Title: Emiebrowsermodelist/Emiesitelist/Emieuserlist
Post by: msdobrescu on May 29, 2015, 09:36:05 AM
Hello,

I have Avast Premium installed on 2 computers. I have noticed some folders created in my user's AppData folder,  Emiebrowsermodelist/Emiesitelist/Emieuserlist. After deletion they reappear on both pc's. I have read on Internet that is a malware, basically removed by SpyHunter. As they provide a free scan version, I have tested it and it didn't recognize an infection. Is Avast able to deal with this kind of malware? It did not say a thing...

This evening I will go through the procedure of scanning and I will post the info here, maybe somebody will help. For my information, is this experience added to the Avast itself? I see here great malware obliterators :), so it would be a shame to waste their experience ;)...

Thank you.

This isn't malware and forms a normal legit part of Windows: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2942883/en-us

Then why I have these on 2 out of 4 Windows machines only?

Probably because you do not need it on these two: http://www.howtogeek.com/184634/how-to-enable-and-use-internet-explorer-11s-enterprise-mode/
You can't enable Enterprise Mode on standard versions of Windows 8.1. and it is not configured by default.

I mean, 2 of the 4 have it, all 4 are Enterprise. I did not enable that anywhere.

msdobre,

I too, have emiesite stuff. It's not harmful...

Each folder contains a .dat file, which has nothing in it (0KB). Nothing to be concerned about.
