Title: Problems with connection
Post by: e.harvey on May 29, 2015, 10:31:34 AM
Hi there, I don't know if this is the place to ask - but I am at my wits end! Since opting for a Freebox router in January, I have had intermittent connection issues, but they have never been a major issue. But slowly in the last week or so, getting on to only certain websites in IE has become almost impossible. And one site is a CMS where I need to upload products, so it is a real headache. I have presumed up until now that it is a problem with my router/server. BUT in the last day or so, when I have experienced these problems, I have used my laptop - and there is no issue at all! So it can't be my router can it? It is an issue with my pc - a virus/internet settings/avast settings? I got this message today on the CMS "if you using SSL make sure your certificate is valid" (I don't know if this is relevant) Any help you could give me would be appreciated - I don't know where to begin!!

I have just been trying to get into all three of my google accounts and non of my passwords were recognised. Just tried it on my laptop and everything was fine. I think maybe I have a virus?

Actually, I have just tried the CMS I need to upload products on to and I am still having difficulty. Not to get on to the site, but once I am there and do a bit of work, I can't upload and carry on??

Could you open Avast and go to settings > active protection > webshield > customise
Remove the tick from Enable HTTPS scanning
OK out and try the upload again

Any joy? I haven't used that particular CMS since we last spoke and I've had no problems with my pc at all in that time. So I don't know what that thing with the BSOD was all about. But today when I go to use this website or their CMS - I still have difficulty connecting! Are there some settings somewhere that are preventing me from accessing these sites? Like I say - I don't have this problem on my laptop - only my pc. :)

So far I have been unable to find any reason at all for this problem

Lets reset Avast

Download Avast Uninstall Utility (http://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility) to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe)
Avast Pro (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe)
Avast Internet Security (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe)
Avast Premier (http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe)
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

If free then just register again

There is no need to open the licence
Copy the licence to your desktop and double click it, allow Avast to insert it

Ok, thank you. all is done. I tried the website whilst I didn't have Avast - it worked fine. Now I have Avast back - it doesn't!  :(

Do you have AIS ?

yes

All I can think of now is to remove all rules within AIS firewall
Tools > Firewall > Application rules

Then set the default action to ask
Tools > Firewall > Settings > Policies
