Title: Re Avast Home compared with Bitdefender 9
Post by: TheWhiteknight on November 04, 2005, 12:20:33 PM
Hi Decided last night to change to Avast Home as I had some issues with Bitdefender even though it says it can detect over 200,000 forms of malware in it's definations database how does Avast compare? I am very impressed with all the features included for a free product  :)

Hi and welcome,
as bit defender has no real time scanner (constantly active) it can live happily alongside Avast! if you want .
Compare the two and decide which is better to keep or simply keep both  :)

The number av vendors mention of things that are detected mean nothing.
One av vender counts each individual piece of malware as 1, another only counts certain families of malware as 1.

Thanks you guys Thats a help . I was using Bitdefender 9 standard the paid for version . I still reckon best to stick with avast from now on though and perhaps do the occasional online scan .

Cheers
