Title: Issue with Google chrome and link blocking.
Post by: REDACTED on June 23, 2015, 04:22:58 PM
Greetings. I'm asking rather than slogging through all of everything.
I installed the free version yesterday on a new Win7 install.
Today all of the second layer windows [right click etc] are blacked out. Avast has blocked some of the security sites I use to tweet news.  lnkd.in/epESwgS  ... When I try to allow it, the pop-up box is blank as well. I like the rest of the software so far, but do not have the time to fix issues.
Is this an issue with google chrome or with the avast software and how do i change those settings.
Thank you for your time.

After reboot and adding the link to the exceptions it it still blocking the site. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with another service if your settings are this difficult to work with.

I managed to find my way through all of the setting and am still having a problem.
I'm much more used to intuitive design in applications.
I checked and I have the latest  version and the latest library.
Anything else I should try before moving on to another software?

Is Avast giving a popup stating why the sites are blocked ?

What was your AV prior to Avast and how was it uninstalled ?

Thanks for the response.
This system had no previous AV. My cousin is a complete non-techno person. He thought the IoBit cleaners were protecting him.
I partitioned then used a clean USB install of win7. (it's a dinosaur originally built for Vista)
The link is to a wordpress blog for one of my security contacts through twitter.
The window consistently pops up (bottom right) and the nice voice says "threat detected"
I added the URL to the exceptions and sent it in as a false positive, yet still cannot get through.
I turned nearly everything off and still get blocked.

I get the menu items then nothing.
I can add screen shots or a video if it helps.
It may be that the WIN7 is still finding and grabbing updates, but adding this specific URL should have fixed it, IMHO.
I have restarted and no longer get the blank pages.
This is happening in the latest version of Chrome and Firefox. I did not check IE.
I'll add the [more info] pop-up, which doesn't give more.

Thanks again for the time.  All he does is check Yahoo mail and play on POGO.

It does actually it tells me that the browser using to connect was firefox and that it is trying to go to a bad site as far as avast is concerned
securityaffairs.co.  I am currently doing a few tests on that site, back in a bit

Thank you. I tried with both browsers. I meant that the pop-up gives the same information.
It may be a bad site, I've never encountered problems from him.
Knowing is 90% of the battle.

Well Zulu scaler gives it as suspicious due to a redirect patch found on 04/18/2015 at 13:24 GMT

If you feel this is wrong then click the report as false positive link on the popup for Avast to re-analyse
