Title: Internet Mail Heuristics
Post by: don1p2 on November 09, 2005, 03:07:01 PM
Am trying to configure my custom Internet mail heuristics settings. I have a question about "Time Period Check" Am I correct in assuming that this means (with the default settings)...if 5 mails with the same attachment OR the same subject are sent in a period of 30 seconds then avast takes action? Or is it something else? Thanks. :)

Extract from avast help file (very helpful document) ;D

Outbound messages - Time period check. Most up-to-date viruses spread by e-mail and send themselves to addresses stored in Windows address book. This spreading has several typical symptoms - within a very short period of time, messages to a large number of addresses are sent, and additionally, these messages have the same subject and/or attachment. avast! monitors these symptoms and it can warn of them. You can find more information and possible settings on the page Heuristics - advanced.

Ah ha! There it is.  I was looking under the heading in Help... "Setting Up The Mail Protection".  I see now the topic can be found under... "Internet Mail Provider Settings"
Again thanks for the help. ...You have a fine day.
