I am completely out of my depth here I have just downloaded avast free anti virus and I am completely lossed to what it covers .I thought it was only anti virus but when I click the AVAST icon in the task bar a box appears showing the following items
INTERNET MAIL
NETWORK SHIELD
OUTLOOK EXCHANGE
WEB SHIELD
Could someone tell me if they protect different parts of my computer and if so which parts.
Thanks
Alan

The avast help file is obviously available off-line and well worth a good browse to get the best out of avast!
Windows Start, All Programs, avast! Antivirus, Help.

alankearn, welcome to the forums! :)
As David mentioned, be sure to read the avast help within the program. There is a lot of good information included.
Again, welcome to the forums! :)

If your Old ones aren't working that would be a good idea ;D
Seriously , Avast! is probably the most important program you're going to use .
Understanding what it does, and how to configure it's settings will save you much work in the future . From experience Avast! will keep you VERY well protected. ;)
