Title: computer will not reboot

I installed Avast 4 on my Sony laptop with Windows XP.  The install seemed to go fine.  However, when I hit the finish button to restart, my laptop would not reboot.  It just hangs.  I really need help ASAP.  I'm currently on my desktop.

Do you have another AV already installed ?

Norton maybe ? if so, there's your problem !

Give us some more info on wich programs etc, are running resident already.

Some more system specs also please...

Don't worry, i'm sure your laptop will run smooth again soon.

hello

you must never install 2 antivirus simultanously .
uninstall sophos for ex  ;)

I have this problem too, I have a Athlon 1333, win 98se, 256mb ddr, it will hang sometimes on close,  only done this after intalling avast 4. ?

Reaplying the latest cummolative service pack and (hot) fixes released after this pack mostly solve you problem

I suggest you follow gamez's and then Pandora's suggestions.
Two antivirus at the same time... just mess the computer. Anyway, like Waldo said, it seems you could have your system working again.  ;)
