Title: Avast not Working with GameGuard
Post by: REDACTED on August 20, 2015, 05:44:58 PM
Dear Admin,

I'm a gamer, I usually playing games with Gameguard installed. Lately, like 6 days a go, I play some game with gameguard installed on the game and suddenly I got bluescreen (BSOD) right after the gameguard activated.
Before that, there's no problem, because I usually turn on avast (and turn on the gaming mode) and play game with gameguard on it. Maybe, either Avast or the Gameguard update their latest data makes them conflict and create error for my windows 7,that leads to BSOD. It says error on 0x00000f4 if I'm not wrong.
It quite confuse me for a while but AFTER I uninstall avast, the BSOD are gone and I can play game again. So, the problem now, I wanna install Avast again but I'm sure that will create BSOD again, I hope maybe Avast can work with Gameguard and solve the problem about this. It's not like first time Gameguard and Avast create error for my windows 7.
Thank you, I just want to report this but dunno where I should send it. I hope for the best. (and sorry for my bad English)

I too have experienced this issue. CABAL ONLINE PHILIPPINES utilizes gameguard. right after the authentication window for gameguard, the cabal game window appears for a fraction of a second then crashes my system completely. The BSOD presents a diagnosis that a critical process has been terminated. This is on Windows 7 system. I tried the game on Windows 8, although there was a different message (CRITICAL PROCESS DIED), it still crashes the system with a BSOD. After searching on the internet, one forum suggested that avast may be crashing the system on x64 windows systems. The same suggested uninstalling avast then running the game to see if it resolves the issue. To my surprise, it did. I am using Panda antivirus at the moment just so I have some kind of protection but i would really love to go back to installing Avast! Just to add information, it seems ntoskernel.exe is the process that keeps getting terminated by avast as seen on the minidump via BlueScreenView. Hope you find a fix to this peculiar issue.
