Title: Can't restore with Avast
Post by: REDACTED on August 29, 2015, 04:01:18 AM
I am trying to do a system restore point on my Windows 10 machine but after it goes through everything it says it did not restore because Avast was not letting it restore. I even went into taskbar and disabled it but that did nothing  and when the system rebooted, it reinstalled Avast.

How can I do a system restore if Avast Free will not let me? Do I have to uninstall Avast?

What avast version do you have 2015 10.3.2225 is the latest ?

But there is a beta version in testing that is meant to fix some issues with win10, see https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=175753.0 (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=175753.0). The usual warning on using beta software on a live (not test systema0 would apply. If you aren't comfortable using beta software, have a robust backup and recovery system in place, accept the possible risk, then it may be best to wait.

Try disabling the avast self-defence module (avastUI > Settings > Troubleshooting) before doing the system restore.

I fixed it by just uninstalling Avast , doing the system restore and then reinstalling Avast.

BTW, I had the latest version installed but there was a file that wouldn't let system restore finalize which was the problem.

Should you need to use system restore again, try the disabling the avast self-defence module, a little less hassle. Hopefully that should allow it to complete.

Hopefully by the time that you need to do this the program will have had a regular update.
