Post by: rainman on November 21, 2003, 08:46:33 AM

I encounter the following everytime I log on,

"an error occured whilst trying to update" "red tile box"

Information about current update:
Last encountered error: Server www.iavs.cz (unknown:80) is down.

Total time: 30 s
Is there anymore news on this subject that I may have missed?

rainman,

The error message simply means that Avast was unable to connect to the download server.  Have you recently installed Avast?
Do you use any Firewall or Blocker software?
What about a Proxy filter (server)?

This type of problem is usually easy to fix.

Have your searched this forum yet?  There have been a numerous posts on exactly your problem.

www.iavs.cz was moved to another computer. It takes some time for DNSes to update.

Just re-try it manually, or leave it to check in another interval.

Thanks for the reply's techie 101 & Kubecj,
in answer to the three questions techie quoted, 3xno.
I have searched this forum 14th nov, but didn't come up with anything definitive. I also seem to be missing ashmon file the same as "clint".
However,  as I read your message, Auto update appears, and working correctly.
I just thought it strange happening on three consecutive days.
Thanks for your time.
