Title: 11.1.2234+ Scan for Network Threats BUG
Post by: dbrisendine on October 08, 2015, 04:24:17 PM
The stand alone 'Scan for network threats' seems to hang when executed; does state that it has run has part of the SMART scan.

Couple of questions here:
IP and Device unknown?  The firewall works but the scanner doesn't have this info (or doesn't display it).
What is the clickable D in the upper righthand corner?
Clicking STOP does nothing.
The scanning progress meter just spins forever but never seems to update.

I let this run for over 30 minutes and no progress seems to be made (Stand alone scan; the SMART scan seems to work and completes all scans in less than 5 minutes, so ....).

Confirmed - I have reported this previously and so has someone else, the Network Scan if run just spins its wheels, using the Stop button fails to stop it.

I resorted to disabling the avast self-defence module and then killing the avastUI.exe in task manager. I then restarted it (avast) from All Programs.

Thought that it was mentioned before but now we have a stand alone thread so maybe the BUG will be looked at.  Hopefully ....  ::)

Scans and rescans but that is the only thing fixed (on my system).
1st scan results show the following:

Questions, questions and more questions ....

Why does it pick up my ethernet connection when the cable is unpluged?
WHAT is not secure?  There is no help or clue as to what is not secure in the set up.
Rescan does not refresh the GUI sometimes and does not pick up the system's IP address(es).
Disabling all but the wireless interface (through the Network and Sharing control panel app) results in everything being Skipped. ??

For those who think the issue is fixed, does both the Smart Scan and the Network Threats scan report the same results?  My system now reports that everything is fine in Smart Scan (where is the details for this scan BTW?) but there are the same issues listed in my above post.
