Post by: REDACTED on October 18, 2015, 04:50:06 PM
Hi,
I am using Debian 8 (64) as emails server.
I have installed avast 2.0.0-1 using as source.list: deb http://deb.avast.com/lin/repo debian release

Getting my free license from: https://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus.php
Not using any GUI.

Avast (free for linux)  has been installed succesfully .... But when trying to run avast:

Code: [Select]
avast.service - LSB: Avast antivirus service
   Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/avast)
Active: active (exited) since sam. 2015-10-17 20:14:22 CEST; 20h ago
  Process: 3201 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/avast start (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)

oct. 17 20:14:18 mail avast[3207]: Starting daemon.
oct. 17 20:14:22 mail avast[3207]: Loaded VPS #15101701
oct. 17 20:14:22 mail avast[3207]: License error: /etc/avast/license.avastlic: Invalid license signature
oct. 17 20:14:22 mail avast[3207]: Fatal error. Exiting.
oct. 17 20:14:22 mail avast[3201]: Starting avast...: failed!

For testing, I have removed the file "license.avastlic" .... to see the error output, still the same (??) ... Is it reading the right file ??

Any ideas ?

Hi, You must have either a trial license that you can obtain here:
https://www.avast.com/linux-server-antivirus (https://www.avast.com/linux-server-antivirus)
or a normal commercial license. In any case, the license file format
is different - it's not  a single line with some number.

In case the  license file is missing, you get a "No such file or directory" log
message, so you must be doing something wrong here as well.
