How to provide feedback
Please for specific issues set a new topic in the Beta section (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=15.0). For general open discussion feel free to use this thread.
Or use the feedback form in the AV program or in the SafeZone browser.
Changes from V2016 Beta 3:
- Home network security is now fully completed and works also in Smart Scan
- Fixed major bugs in Passwords
- Fixed crashes in SafeZone tabs
- NG is not installed automatically in Free, but can be installed via Custom installation
- Fixed minor problems on uninstall screen
- Fixed problem with non working Firewall afer installation via online installer
- Animated icons in menu + new background on main page
- Trillions of minor bug fixes and improvements
Known issues:
- Web Reputation, Safe Price features are not functional in SafeZone browser
- It is impossible to deactivate the Pay Mode for sites which are automatically switched in to this mode
- After program update the Mozilla reports the Online Security plugin as unsigned. Clean installation works fine.
Changes from V2015:
NEW: Passwords - Avast can now manage your passwords and generate strong passwords for you. Just one password to remember.
- checks your passwords security
- stores your passwords securely
- includes browser extensions for easier logging in and form filling
- generates strong passwords
NEW: SafeZone browser - Replaced the SafeZone for safer shopping and banking
- Pay Mode: runs automatically on banking sites (This isolates the session and protects it from possible keyloggers or other malicious software secretly lurking on your computer. With Pay Mode you can perform all your financial transactions in peace, without fear of your password or other personal details being stolen. Pay Mode can be also turned on manually directly via browser UI.)
- Optionally, some extensions such as Ad Blocker and Video Downloader (potentially useful as SafeZone doesn't support add-ons for security reasons).
NEW: User interface - More space for content, easy control
NEW: Feedback possible directly from program - report bugs, feature requests and other suggestions easier
IMPROVED: Home network security now detects more router vulnerabilites and shows more details
IMPROVED: Installation - it should be now faster and less obtrusive.
+ Many other minor tweaks and fixed
Avast cleaner:
http://files.avast.com/beta9x/avastclear.exe
It should be possible to install this version on top of your existing avast! installation (all settings should be preserved).
To report BSODs, crashes or any other none trivial problems please use new SupportPackage generating tool.

We are looking forward for your feedback!
Thank you
Avast team

Trillions of bug fixes? :D
Gonna update via UI.
-
I tried to update through the UI but it failed. I then downloaded the online install tool. It seemed to work but my firewall was turned off and I could not turn it on. I had to reboot. The install of Beta 3, gave me a pop up to re boot. This Beta did not. Running Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit RTM.

Still can't even install avast! Online Security add-on for Firefox 42 Beta 8 64bit. Tried everything and I just can't install it. Not even manually from avast! folder. Hm.
Have broken detection messages been fixed? Can't find any link long enough to corrupt it at the moment...

Kind of funky but at least the GUI has color.
In the future please post offline download links along with the stub installer.
-
Update via GUI worked without any problem - reboot and everything was fine except.....
Secure DNS is still blocking some useful Chinese sites: see
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=177728.msg1260009#msg1260009
The bug concerning "Network Scan" vs. "Smart Scan" seems to be history on my system.

Updated :-)
Beautiful UI , Please don't change it , it's very nice :D
Cheers.

Can i submit phishing sites via avast! feedback? Avast! Beta4 is smooth but RAM Usage is about 32.80mb(Not scanning)and not install NG.

For the virus chest right click the Avast icon in the tray.
-
nice UI, Update seems great
And well forgot my "passwords" password | any way not using it so not an issue. :)
-
No new features for free user we are expect more from Avast! team.Only new UI? :(
-
I haven't participated in the last three betas but I really love what you've done with the UI. One important thing is missing, will you add the ability to initiate a scan and other commands via My Avast portal? I mean it'd be awesome to have more control on PCs linked to your Avast portal.

You're getting excellent protection. What else do you want for Free. ???

Only Phishing report(Manually)tab on avast! GUI :)

Personally I wouldn't call this a new UI, given that only the style of the home page has changed. Look and layout of the rest is 2015 UI, so I can't see the point of changing one page, it adds nothing to make the UI more intuitive/accessible.
-
Still can't "sign-in" via the GUI. ???

No problem here ???

Home Network scanning has finally been fixed (both scans --- YEAH!!!).
BUT
Disabling shields (via right click on tray icon) resulted in total lock up of system; had to do a power down and boot into Safe Mode to remove. Will try again with next build.
-
About Home Network Security: I think this is not correct (see image).
Why "Secured" while detecting something bad?
-
One message is in regard to your home network,
the other refers to you router.
Your router is probably still set to use the default user name and password.

I know about it, I just thought my router was a part of my home network. It seems not in avast. :-X
-
working great hope to have the new official version of avast 2016 thanks for the great work :) :)

I agree with NON. Would be nice if there were detailed reasons for the decisions the scanner makes.

What makes you think Avast isn't going to work with the 64 bit version of Firefox ???

It is certainly a good question as previously Pale Moon, a 64bit version of firefox was unsupported, but I don't know if that is sill the case.
Pale Moon is an Open Source, Firefox-based web browser available for Microsoft Windows and Linux, focusing on efficiency and ease of use.
-
Thanks for letting us now about the FF 64bit. We will add it in next version.
-
Mozilla has 64-bit firefox in its ftp server for download for months (I don't remember starting from which version).
She kept all versions as beta and never release the final...just the final ;)
Avast add-on has worked fine with 32-bits firefox but not with 64-bit as I known and tried myself.
Today, Mozilla released a candidate copy of 64-bit version 42 and they have never did before.
So, I think Mozilla is going to start release offical copy of 64-bit firefox.
If my experience with 64-bit version is correct, then Avast has to do something......

This forced auto update on the betas is getting very old very quickly.
I'm constantly having to change my avast Update settings back to my preferred choice 'Ask when an update is available.' yet it is totally ignored and the first thing I know is this damn popup 'Avast has been updated' - Restart computer now.
Yes I'm happy partake in the betas, but the update timing has to be as per the users preferred settings.
