Avast Passwords apps for mobile phones:
1.  iOS: http://goo.gl/forms/4RVD4RAE5L
2.  Android: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.avast.android.passwordmanager

How to provide feedback
Please for specific issues set a new topic in the Beta section (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=15.0). For general open discussion feel free to use this thread.

Or use the feedback form in the AV program or in the SafeZone browser.

Changes from V2016 Beta 4:
- Bug fixes
- Online Security plugin in Firefox is now signed in all cases (new installation or update)
- Firewall now should run ok on Windows 10

Known issues:
- Account screens are English only
- Online Security plugin isn't installed for Firefox 64-bit
- Missing links on the SafeZone browser startpage
- Missing translations on some screens

We needed to change the location of the Passwords vault file, so if you would like to use the passwords you stored in previous beta versions please do the following:

Win XP
Create folder:                         C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\AVAST Software\APM\
and copy there all files from here: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\PAM\

Win7 and newer
Create folder:                        C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\APM\
and copy there all files from here: C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\PAM\

Changes from V2015:

NEW: Passwords - Avast can now manage your passwords and generate strong passwords for you. Just one password to remember.
 - checks your passwords security
 - stores your passwords securely
 - includes browser extensions for easier logging in and form filling
 - generates strong passwords

NEW: SafeZone browser - Replaced the SafeZone for safer shopping and banking

   - Pay Mode: runs automatically on banking sites (This isolates the session and protects it from possible keyloggers or other malicious software secretly lurking on your computer. With Pay Mode you can perform all your financial transactions in peace, without fear of your password or other personal details being stolen. Pay Mode can be also turned on manually directly via browser UI.)

   - Optionally, some extensions such as Ad Blocker and Video Downloader (potentially useful as SafeZone doesn't support add-ons for security reasons).

NEW: User interface
- More space for content, easy control

NEW: Feedback possible directly from program
- report bugs, feature requests and other suggestions easier

IMPROVED: Home network security
now detects more router vulnerabilites and shows more details
IMPROVED: Installation - it should be now faster and less obtrusive.
+ Many other minor tweaks and fixed

Avast cleaner:
http://files.avast.com/beta9x/avastclear.exe

It should be possible to install this version on top of your existing avast! installation (all settings should be preserved).

To report BSODs, crashes or any other none trivial problems please use new SupportPackage generating tool.

Instructions how to use it can be easily found:

We are looking forward for your feedback!

Thank you
Avast team

Well I got a forced beta program update, this is getting very old very quickly.

Yes I'm happy partake in the betas, but the update timing has to be as per the users preferred settings.

I have to say I'm somewhat surprised that we are at an RC stage given the issued still being posted in the beta forum. On the forced update I automatically changed my forum profile to reflect my program version and I have to say I had it set to beta 5.

EDIT:
Just read about creating the new folder and copying the data from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\PAM\.

I elected not to install the Password Manager the previous 2016 betas, so this folder doesn't exist. Presumably creation of the new locations is unnecessary (though I had already done it) ?

The HIPS "sensitivity" bars still don't have ANY description what they do unlike for example sensitivity bars for normal file scan heuristics.
When you change normal heuristics sensitivity, there is text OFF, LOW, MEDIUM and HIGH next to it as you change it.

For HIPS, there is none, but should be OFF, AUTO and ASK.

Also rename "Sensitivity" to "HIPS Sensitivity" since the sensitivity bars for this one only control the HIPS mode of operation where checkbox above it is a separate thing only for malware like behavior detection.

This setting needs to be more clear to the user, because current design is confusing as hell and you can't really know what the hell each setting does unless you have a very deep knowledge of avast!. And that's just silly. Settings have to be easy to understand.

I know it's RC stage already, but I just realized this hasn't been changed AT ALL between v2015 and v2016 and that's not good.

First huge disappointment - passwords. No way to import all my EasyPass passwords (feature is useless for me ATM), no way to transfer my licence from EasyPass as was promised (almost 3Y left). A lot of promises and none of them in RC1...  :(

The new extension on latest Chrome is grey, says it is not activated and I can't find any way to activate it. It just refuses to be activated.

The problem with browsing with winXP SP3, firefox 41.0.2 and avast with HTTPs scanning on uk.yahoo.com and forum.avast.com is still hit and miss. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=178172.0 (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=178172.0)
A new addition to the problem is ebay.co.uk as I didn't use that too frequently.

It works for a while then pages won't load and it is back to dancing around disabling HTTPS, shields - try to load the pages, which doesn't work - until I re-enable https and shields. This is a bloody nightmare considering how long this problem has been present.

I'm also getting this with my anti-spam program MailWasher Pro, even though I haven't got SSL Scanning enabled.

OK, at least finally activated plugin. The main question remains - how to import my EasyPass passwords to avast passwords?

Yesterday moved some of my passwords from EasyPass to avast passwords. Yet, manually - copy-paste each line. One small "bug" - then filling the new password form it says password is weak, but when I save it - it is said to be medium strong in the list. So the program is undecided sometimes what is weak and what is strong password.

Some questions: are passwords safe and encrypted like in EasyPass? Then synced online, does it mean also the are backed up if I loose my local vault on my PC?

Also, waiting for generate password option and ability to transfer my EasyPass license to avast passwords.

Are there any tricks to it?

Restart PC, go to avast settings and find settings for passwords. Reinstall plugins from settings interface. I had the same problem yesterday. Plugins are not installed correctly from the first time, in settings you will see status for plugins "Not installed".

By all accounts it is, but in a limited form - those already using (paid for) the avast Easy Pass will be able to get the premium functions of it.

For those of us updating to this RC version, will we still be running beta versions when the final version is released? In other words will I have to uninstall the beta then install the "non-beta?" and also i've had no issues logging in but updating manually still shows there is an update available when already on the latest version.

Not entirely correct. What you are seeing has been reported as a bug in previous posts/topics in the beta sub-forum.

When the regular release of avast 2016 the beta will still update to the regular version without uninstalling.

What you need to be aware of is that having joined the beta testing, as and when the next session of beta testing happens you would get that beta version update.

If you don't want to continue with beta testing in the future then you would need to do a clean install of the regular version update.

BUG: avast kills my Brother DCP-J140W (connected via WiFi on the same network). Printer becomes offline and the is online with avast disabled only...  :-\ It reconnects as soon as I stop avast, and the connection is lost as soon as avast shields enabled.

Update: it's avast firewall who kills my printer. Even with sharing enabled, so no workaround found.

2016.11.1.2239 -  the same. I need to disable avast firewall if I want to print something. My prints are kept securely under the firewall :D :D

I didn't have an issue with the 2238 build other than a little slow. But on 2239, it is still a little slow, I find an anomaly. The scan appears to have completed and reports as much - but the actual scan of one of the devices still shows scanning/activity.

Fo YLAP,

Easypass users with valid license will get Premium version of Avast Passwords. We work on the import from the EasyPass HTML export but it won't be ready for the first release, but we would like to have it done by the end of year. Until then you can of course still use EasyPass.

My mentioned problem with some sites from China and "Secure DNS" ( https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=177728.msg1260009#msg1260009 ) seems not to be fixed but just disregarded. So I uninstalled "Secure DNS" and everything is working.

Hello jrace,
we are investigating this issue - not disregarding it. It seems to be a backend issue, where our DNS servers are blocked from accessing authoritative DNS servers residing inside China.

Sorry Lukas, so please "disregard my disregarding".
Would it be possible to make some exceptionslist for this feature; so you can go ahead with "Secure DNS" enabled to have this feature give you some additional safety and shutting off when visiting a site listed in "Exceptions"?
Tthat could be much more comfortable than always manually switching "Secure DNS" on and off.
